Jan. 16, Martin Luther King Jr. Day of ServiceEnjoy a morning of service with Reserve staff and fellow volunteers as we beautify the grounds at our new headquarters. Taking place each year on the third Monday in January, the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service is the only federal holiday observed as a national day of service—a “day on, not a day off.” Please join us as we transform our grounds into an outdoor classroom. Participants will help create walking paths and teaching stations, clear invasive weeds, and move soil under a heritage oak tree for a future native plant garden. The audience votes for their favorite plays and the top three winners get cash prizes. With nearly 300 entries each year, a team of readers select, read, and grade each play, keeping the identity of the playwrights anonymous until the top ten plays are selected.
