What is Illinois Healthy Women? Governor Blagojevich's Illinois Healthy Women program helps women get the birth control services they want and need. It provides women with healthcare coverage for family planning and birth control services. The program is voluntary and services are confidential and free. What does Illinois Healthy Women cover? Illinois Healthy Women covers family planning (birth control) and certain services provided at the family planning visit, such as the physical exam, pap tests, lab tests for family planning, testing and medicine for sexually transmitted infections found during a family planning visit, and sterilization. Illinois Healthy Women also covers mammograms, multivitamins and folic acid if they are ordered by the doctor during the family planning visit. Who is eligible? Women from age 19 through 44 who are U.S. Citizens or legal permanent residents with a Social Security Number, live in Illinois, and are not currently pregnant may qualify. Women must meet the income levels to be enrolled in Illinois Healthy Women. How do women sign up? Women will be automatically enrolled if they are leaving another Healthcare and Family Services (HFS) program because they no longer qualify. There is also an application that can be filled out and sent to HFS. Women can get an application by calling 1-800-226-0768, or can print a mail-in application at www.illinoishealthywomen.com. What is the Pink card? The Pink card shows coverage for family planning (birth control) under Illinois Healthy Women. Women will need to show the Pink card to their healthcare provider.
