Before You Update....
• Back up your iPhone or iPad.• Download the software in iTunes to save
space.• Perform the update while plugged in.• Unless you intend to upgrade ALL of your
devices to iOS8, do not enable iCloudDrive.

Basic iPad Controls
• On/Off, Sleep/Wake button- on top of iPad, use itto put screen to sleep or wake it up.
• Home button- No matter what you're doing, you canpress the Home button at any time for the Home screen.
• Application icons: Each icon launches an app. 20apps come with iPad, and you can add more from the AppStore.
• Front camera: comes in handy when you’reFaceTime chatting. (The back camera shows the personyou’re talking to what you’re seeing. You can also takepictures with it.)
Basic iPad Controls
• Volume Up/Down control: The upper part of thebutton increases the volume; the lower part decreases it.
• Side switch: When the switch is set to Silent mode-the down position, with an orange dot visible on theswitch- your iPad doesn't make any sound when youreceive new mail or an alert pops up on the screen.
Setting Up Apple ID
• From the Home Screen, tap Settings, andthen tap iTunes & App Stores.
• If an Apple ID is already signed in, tap theApple ID name, and then tap Sign Out.
• Tap Create New Apple ID.• Follow instructions.
Setting Up Email Accounts
• In Settings, tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars.• Select your email provider. If you don't see
your email provider listed, tap Other--AddMail Account.
• Follow steps to provide requiredinformation to configure account.
• To add another account, tap Settings--Mail, Contacts, Calendars--Add Account.
Closing Background Apps
• Save battery power• Double click home button to bring up
multitasking bar• In older OS, press and hold an app then
tap red minus sign that appears• iOS 7 and above - drag the app up• *Less necessary in newer iOS

• Touch and hold any app on Home screensuntil it jiggles.
• Move apps around by dragging them.• Press Home button to save your
arrangement.• Place in folders by dragging one into
another.• Customize folder name.

• Press and hold vowel keys for accents.• Hold on period key inserts ... .• The hyphen offers an em-dash and bullet.• The 0 offers a degree symbol.• Dollar sign hides symbols for numerous
currencies.

• Flick - scroll• Tap - open apps, choose pics, etc.• Swipe left or right with 4-5 fingers to switch
between recently used apps.• Return to Home screen: Pinch 4-5 fingers
together.• Double tap home button.• Pinch and unpinch to zoom in or out.• Press and hold to select and correct.

• Update iOS (General--Software Update).• Turn on iCloud.• If you haven’t already created Apple ID, do so.• Customize settings like Storage & Backup.• Turn on mail in iCloud for free iCloud email
account.• Enable automatic downloads (Settings--iTunes
& App Stores--Automatic Downloads).• Turn on iCloud for the rest of your devices.**

• Voice Feedback - select through speakeror hands free
• My Info - list your name and contactinformation so she knows where home is,etc.
• Raise to Speak - select to hold homebutton or also whenever you raise phoneto your ear

Teach Siri Pronunciation
• Say something that coaxes Siri to incorrectlysay the name in question. For example,"What's my name?”
• Now tell her she is saying it wrong, but makesure you use her pronunciation.
• Siri should now ask you to tell her how topronounce it.
• Siri presents you with options for the correctpronunciation. Listen to them and tap. Selectnext on the correct one.

• When typing, shake your phone to get the“undo” option.
• To select text, double click a word or tripleclick the entire sentence.
• To go to a specific part of text, press andhold until the cursor turns to a magnifyingglass. This makes corrections easy.

How to Create Instant Slideshow
• Launch Photos app on iPhone or iPad.• Tap into the album or Camera Roll you'd
like to use in the slideshow.• Tap on photo you'd like to start the
slideshow on to open it.• Tap Share button (bottom left corner).• Tap Slideshow in share menu.• Tap to confirm where you'd like to play the
slideshow (AirPlay devices in range will show up).• Tap on Start Slideshow at the bottom.
