Steven Paul "Steve" Jobs (February 24, 1955 – October 5, 2011)was an American entrepreneur, marketer, and inventor,who was the co-founder, chairman, and CEO of Apple Inc.

As the new CEO of the company, Jobs oversaw the development of the iMac, iTunes, iPod, iPhone, and iPad and on the services side,

the company's Apple Retail Stores, iTunes Store and the App Store.

with Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne in 1976. Wayne stayed only a short time, leaving Jobs and Wozniak as the

In August 2011, Jobs resigned as CEO of Apple, but remained with the company as chairman of its board.

Hours after the announcement, Apple Inc. (AAPL) shares dropped five percent in after-hours trading.

PIXAR STUDIOS

Pixar has produced fourteen feature films,beginning with Toy Story (1995), and its mostrecent being Monsters University (2013). All ofthe films have received both critical andfinancial success, with the notable exceptionbeing Cars 2, which, while commerciallysuccessful, received substantially less praisethan Pixar's other productions.

Macintosh

• The Macintosh was introduced in January 1984. The computer had no "Mac" name on the front, but rather just the Apple logo.Appleco-founder and former Apple engineer Steve Wozniak said that the Macintosh failed under Steve Jobs, and that it wasn't until Jobs left that it became a success.

iPhone

• Apple began work on the first iPhone in 2005 and the first iPhone was released on June 29, 2007.

• Both Apple and Microsoft flew their flags at half-staff throughout their respective headquarters and campuses.

• Bob Iger ordered all Disney properties, including Walt Disney World and Disneyland, to fly their flags at half-staff from October 6 to 12, 2011.
