Thank You: We hope you’ve been able to enjoy some time in the sun this summer. One of the hallmarks of the Luke Society is that most of our ministries are based in warm-weather climates. More importantly, though, they are experiencing life in the Son. Each gift Hope Christian Reformed Church provides is an opportunity for our directors to share rays of hope through the Light of the World, Jesus Christ. Thank you for your continued support of the Luke Society. May you be blessed through your giving.

WORSHIP NOTES Welcome to Hope CRC! As we gather for worship on one of the last Sundays of the summer break, it’s time to think about the ways that God is calling us to ministry and service. Happy the Dog Ministries, led by Troy Kooima, will be assisting with worship today. Traveling to churches mostly in our region, this ministry invites student participation and partners with Christian organizations in leading meaningful worship experiences which both bring people to Christ and nurture that lifelong relationship. From our congregation, Ayshalynn De Groot and Lindsey Zuidema have assisted with this ministry. We also welcome Julie Kreun who will be speaking to us about Kids’ Club, an after school ministry in our community. Sylvia Eekhoff helps with the leadership of this group and several members of our church have also volunteered. Melissa Boer will be giving a brief introduction to a new Children and Worship program that Hope will be offering this year in the evenings. This will provide young children with a focused worship time during the evening service. In the morning service, Pastor Todd will be reading from Philippians 2:12-18, reminding us that we can have assurance that God preserves and holds us in faith. In the evening, we will read from Matthew 21:33-44. In this passage Jesus teaches with the Parable of the Tenants. We are reminded that God is Lord over all areas of our lives. Let us worship God today!

CHURCH ANNOUNCEMENTS Next week we welcome Mr. Gale Tien as he leads us in worship for both services. Pastor Todd will be using the coming week for study, preparing for the fall and winter season. Also, we have the privilege of participating in the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper. May God prepare our hearts and minds this week as we join in communion.

Invite Others to Hope: The Evangelism Committee has decided to go to different areas in Hull on Monday, August 20 where we will distribute ice cream bars and a warm invitation to come to our church. If you are interested in joining us in canvassing our unchurched neighbors, please sign the sheet at the kitchen counter. We will be meeting at 6:30. Sunday School: Sunday School season is approaching fast and we are in need of teachers. Check the bulletin board for the class sizes and sign up to teach a class or partner with someone to teach as some of you have been doing in the past. Thanks for stepping up for the kids at Hope! Children and Worship: We are excited to announce that a Children and Worship program will start at Hope CRC this fall. Children and Worship is a time when children can worship in a developmentally appropriate way during the evening service outside of the sanctuary. It also gives parents of young children a time to worship without as many distractions. All of the materials are ready to go. What we need now is volunteers! We need leaders and helpers. Leaders will be in charge of implementing the lesson and helpers will be there to assist. The lessons are all laid out for you. All of the materials will be in the classroom and ready to go for the week. A sign up sheet will be on the kitchen counter and also e-mailed out for those of you who are interested in helping out the Children and Worship program. Any questions - contact Melissa Boer!

Kid’s Club: The after school program for kindergarten through 3rd grade students is the community of Hull is ready to kick off a new year. A representative from Kid’s Club will be at church today to share some information about the program, how to register your child, and ways you can become involved. We are looking for some food donations so we can feed the children a snack when they arrive at Kid’s Club. We also need some miscellaneous supplies for crafts, games, and fun. If you are willing to help please take a donation slip from the table in the fellowship hall and return the purchased item(s) to the table by Sunday, September 2. Thank you so much for your support! Thank You: Thank you to my family care group, the deacons and the people who gave me thoughtful cards, money and Cenex gift cards. They meant a lot to me when I didn’t feel good. Thanks for the prayers and support!
