Those who attempted JEE in 2014 or earlier are NOT
ELIGIBLE to appear in JEE (Advanced) - 2016. (iii) Type of Examination : In JEE (Advanced) - 2016, there will be
two question papers, each of three hours duration. The question

papers will consist of three separate sections on Physics, Chemistry
and Mathematics. The questions will be of objective type, designed

In some sections, incorrect answers will be awarded negative marks.
The answers for each of the questions are to be marked on a
separate, 2-sheet carbonless paper. Candidate must not separate
or the alignment of the upper and lower sheets at any stage
during the examination. The upper sheet is specially designed
machine readable sheet of paper (ORS-Optical Response sheet).
2
While answering each of the questions the candidate is expected to
darken the bubble(s) against correct answer(s) only on the upper
sheet using black ball point pen. The darkening on the upper sheet
should be done in such a manner that the impression is seen on the
lower sheet. Responses recorded on the upper sheet only will be
taken as final. The candidate can take away the lower sheet with the
permission of the invigilator(s) at the end of the examination.
(vi) RESULTS OF JEE (Advanced) : The answer sheets of JEE
(Advanced) are a machine-readable Optical Response Sheet
(ORS). These sheets are graded and scrutinized with extreme care
after the examination. Candidates can view the answer keys of JEE (Advanced) on
Zonal JEE (Advanced) portal.

(v) PROCEDURES FOR DETERMINING THE CUT-OFF MARKS AND RANKING : Only those candidates who attempted
both Paper - 1 and Paper - 2 of JEE (Advanced) will be considered
for the ranking. Marks in Physics in JEE (Advanced) will be equal to
marks in Physics section of Paper - 1 plus marks in Physics section
of Paper - 2. Similar procedures will be followed for Chemistry and
Mathematics. The sum of the marks obtained in the individual
subjects will be the aggregate marks for the candidate.
(vi) RANK LIST : Based on the performance in JEE (Advanced) -
2016, a Common Merit List (CML) will be prepared. Candidates
must score at least 10% in each subject and 35% in aggregate in
order to be in the CML. Separate merit lists will be prepared corresponding to OBC
(NCL), SC and ST Categories with less prescribed minimum
marks, as specified in them IIT Brochure.
3
Candidates of OBC (NCL) category must score at least 9% in
each subject and 31.5% in aggregate in order to be in the OBC
merit list.
Candidates of SC and ST categories must score at least 5% in
each subject and 17.5% in aggregate in order to be in their
respective merit lists.
(vii) PD Merit Lists : Separate PD merit lists will be prepared corresponding to the GE, OBC (NCL), SC and ST categories.
To be in these respective merit lists, candidates must score at
least 5% in each subject and 17.5% in aggregate.
(viii) Tie-break : The tie-break criterion in the various merit lists adopted for awarding ranks to the candidates who have scored
the same aggregate marks is as follows: Higher rank for higher
marks in Mathematics, followed by marks in Physics and same
rank in case both the candidates have the same marks in each of
the three subjects.
Note: Obtaining a rank in JEE (Advanced) - 2016 does not
guarantee admission to any of the courses available in IITs
and ISM Dhanbad.

FOR JEE, 2016
Admission to any one of the IITs through the JEE is itself a mark of
exceptional distinction, to say nothing of the advantages after graduation
from the prestigious institute. We at Brilliant, are continuously devising
ways to help our students reach their goal, whatever be the competition.
We have the following Correspondence Courses for students in Standard XII:
1. One-year Course with Y.G. (Young Genius) File and B.MAT
(Brilliant’s Mock All-India Tests) One-year Test Series. Y.G. File
Course with B.MAT One-year Test Series
Syllabus and Medium of Instruction
Our course material for JEE 2016 will be based on the syllabus issued
for JEE 2015. We do not envisage any significant change in the syllabus
in the coming year. Should there be any, however, our material will be
suitably supplemented.
The course material is in the English medium, and only students who
can follow our lessons in English should apply for enrolment.
HIGHLIGHTS OF THE 1-YEAR POSTAL COURSE
Our course teaches the subjects from fundamentals, drills students with
graded exercises, guides them with Progressive Evaluation Tests and
Simulator Test Papers with solutions and finally gets them exam-ready
with B.MAT (Brilliant's Mock All-India Test Series) - the most rigorous,
real and result-oriented testing process under exact JEE conditions.
To help solve problems more easily, we provide a Ready Reference Compendium, a collection of important formulae, equations and data in
Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics.
JEE Simulator Series
Ten Full-Syllabus JEE Simulator Papers(Main and Advanced), based on
the JEE pattern, with sealed solutions, will be sent to our postal students.
5
The Course Material: Lessons and Exercises
The study material will be in the form of seven sets of lesson material
and exercises. The theory notes are elaborate with topics fully explained
and with a number of illustrations and Practice Tests. Each lesson is
followed by an exercise in the form of objective questions.
The student should study the theory well, systematically work out the
exercises and should then compare his working with the fully worked-
out solutions which will be provided in the subsequent set. Working sheets of exercises should NOT be sent to us.
PROGRESSIVE TESTS
Progressive Tests - Online
There will be six Postal Tests, (online) with questions in each of the
three subjects, Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry. These objective
papers, modeled on the JEE pattern.
Students should self-administer the Tests strictly under examination
conditions, and finish each paper in one sitting within the specified time
limit, without referring to the study materials.
Complete solutions to each of the papers will be available online.
Ready Reference Compendium
To help solve problems more easily, we provide a Ready Reference

Y.G. (“YOUNG GENIUS”) FILE
YOUR ACE OF TRUMPS
No preparation for JEE can be considered complete without
Brilliant’s legendary Y.G. File.
THE OBJECTIVE
The preparation for the JEE involves intensive training in answering
objective type questions, combining speed and accuracy.
Whatever be the degree of preparation of the student, there is always an
element of surprise in the actual JEE Question Paper. This element of
surprise will stimulate, but not demoralise, if the student has had
sufficient experience in tackling problems of the JEE standard. It is
precisely this experience that our Y.G. File aims to provide.
The Y.G. File does not contain any theory, but it has hundreds of
problems of the brain teasing type.
The Compendium
To help solve Y.G. File problems, we provide a Ready Reference
Compendium, a collection of important formulae, equations and data in
Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics.
All New Problems
Y.G. File, 2016 offers you a collection of 1500 tough problems to tackle
in Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics.
The Y.G. File will consist of two Parts i.e. Part I and Part II. Both will
consist of objective questions in each of the 3 subjects - Mathematics,
Chemistry and Physics.
YG File Part 1 will be despatched in Sep/Oct 2015 and Part 2 in Dec
2015/Jan 2016.
12
The objective questions will be presented topic-wise, so that the student
can attempt the problems in any topic as and when he/she feels
comfortable with his/her level of preparedness in that particular topic.
Questions and problems that cover more than a single topic will be
given together, at the end of each subject.
In Y.G. File, Part I, there will be a total of 750 Objective (250 Questions
in each of the three subjects – Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics).
Y.G. File Part II will have another 750 Problems on a similar pattern.
The solutions to all the objective questions will be sent with the
respective questions and problems.
