InvitationIIFL Private Wealth & Indian Chess School cordially invites players from all chess federations under FIDE – an international organization that connects various national chess federations across the world – to participate in the 3rd edition of IIFL Wealth Mumbai International Chess Tournament.

The championship is being conducted under the auspices of All India Chess Federation (AICF), All Marathi Chess Association (AMCA) & Mumbai Suburban District Chess Association (MSDCA) and it will be held at Mount Litera School International, GN Block, Behind Asian Heart Hospital, Near UTI Building, BKC Complex, Bandra (East), Mumbai – 400051 from 30th December 2017 to 07th January 2018.

EligibilityThe tournament is open for all FIDE rated chess players as per the classical rating list published by FIDE on 01st December 2017. Indian players needs to have a prior registration of AICF for the year 2017-2018 while players from the State of Maharashtra needs to have AMCA registration for the year 2017-2018

System of PlayThe championship shall be played under the FIDE Laws of Chess for a total of 09-rounds on a Swiss-League basis. The pairing mode for 1st two rounds shall be as per 'Accelerated'.

Time-ControlEach player shall 90 minutes for the first 40 moves followed by 30 minutes for the rest of the game with an addition of 30 seconds per move starting from move one. The default time is 30 minutes.

Accommodation1. All invited foreign GM/WGM/IM/WIM will be provided free hotel accommodation (full board)

on twin-sharing basis.2. All invited Indian GM will be provided free hotel accommodation (full board) on twin-sharing

basis.3. All invited Indian IM/WGM/ will be provided accommodation on twin/triple sharing basis.4. The remaining participants are required to budget their own stay arrangements. The

organizers, on request, shall assist in finding a suitable accommodation.

NoteThe players falling under the ‘Veteran’ category (Born before 1.1.1957) shall be required to submit their birth certificate while submitting their entries.

Cash Prizes (Open)A total of 24 prizes amounting to INR 12,00,000/- (Rs. Twelve Lakhs Only) shall be awarded as under. The Champion of the tournament shall also be awarded the IIFL Wealth Trophy.

Note1. Prizes shall not be shared and a player would be eligible for one higher prize only.2. All the titled players: GM/IM/WGM/WIM shall be not eligible for the category prizes (excepting

the women's category.3. As per Income Tax regulations of India, tax shall be deducted at source (TDS) from the prize

money awarded to the Foreign Players (@ 20.60%) & Indian players (@ 10% for the prizeamount above the threshold of Rs.30,000/- and above).

4. All Indian players who are winning the prize of Rs.30,000/- and above are required to submitthe copies of their PAN & AADHAR details.

5. All payments to the Indian players would be made by cheque and it would be issued in thename of the concerned prize winner only.

6. The prize money awarded to the foreign players would be made by SWIFT. The concernedprize winners would be required to submit their Passport Copy.

1. Age shall be reckoned as on 01st January 2017.2. The category prizes in form of trophies to 3-Best Players in Under-07, 08, 09 & 10 shall be

awarded only within the age-groups. For Example: a player under-07 shall not be eligible forU-08 prize and so on.

3. Prizes shall not be shared and a player would be eligible for one higher prize only.4. A player who has won cash prize shall not be eligible for the age-category prize.

Mode of Remitting Entry Fee Payment

Note1. The entry fees once paid is non-refundable and non-transferable. The organizers reserve the

right to reject any entry without giving any reason thereof.2. It is mandatory to forward the entry form in the given format for accepting the entries along

Default TimeAny player who arrives at the chessboard after 30 minutes after the scheduled round time shall lose the game. Thus, the default time is 30 minutes.

The Drawn GameThe rules of the competition specify that the players cannot draw the game before 40 moves without the consent of the Arbiter.

Tie-BreakThe following tie-break criteria shall be applied (in the order given) to determine the final rankings:1. Results of direct encounters between the tied players2. Buccholz Cut 13. Buccholz4. The greater number of games played with Black5. The greater number of wins

Arbitration of ProtestObjection, if any, to the decision of the Chief Arbiter, shall be made in writing with a protest fee of Rs.500/- (Rs. Five Hundred Only) within 30 minutes of the occurrence of the incident. The amount would be refunded if the appeal is upheld.

Appeals CommitteeA 7-member Committee of Appeals (inclusive of 2-reserves) shall be formed from amongst players/Officials/Coaches. The decision of the said committee shall be final and binding on all the participants.

InterpretationFor further interpretations of the rule(s) and deciding any aspect not covered by the said tournament prospectus, the decision of the Tournament Director – FI. Praful Zaveri – shall be final and binding on all the participants. The Tournament Director has every right to make any addition/deletion/amendment to these rules. However, such changes shall be displayed on the notice board.
