The Parental Choice in Education Act includes an Education Tax Credit, which will provide $150 million in tax credits annually to:  Reimburse public school teachers $200 for paying out of their own pockets for classroom supplies.  Encourage donations to critical school programs such as pre-k and after-school programs like art, music, and tutoring.  Provide a $500 tax credit to families with incomes below $60,000 who send their children to religious or private schools.  Encourage donations to pay for scholarships for low- and middle- income students who attend religious, public, or private schools. Because Assembly Member Morelle is refusing to support the Parental Choice in Education Act, more schools like Blessed Sacrament are in danger of closing — hurting our kids. All families deserve a choice when it comes to their child’s education. Unfortunately, many families across New York State are struggling nancially to make that right choice. Right now, The State Assembly is considering a bill (the Parental Choice in Education Act) that would help give every child, regardless of income or zip code, the opportunity to accomplish whatever they dream. “Justice Sotomayor’s story is one I’ve h eard often, from  parents all over our state. The  Parental Choic e in Education  Act will prevent the clo sure of some of our oldest, most storied schools. I strongly urge our  Assembly members to s upport  parental choic e.” – Gov. Andrew Cuomo District 136: Joseph Morelle Call 585-467-04 10 Or Email morellej@ass embly.state.ny.us Before it was closed, Blessed Sacrament School in the Bronx helped one little girl achieve her dream of trading this uniform… “The schools that suer are the schools in poor neighborhoods. And they’re the ones with the least resources to absorb the loss…. These are people who rely on institutions like this to give their kids an opportunity in life.” —Justice Sotomayor on religious school closings, CNN, 3/7/13 ...for this one. Tell Assembly Member Morelle to join Governor Cuomo and stand up for parental choice!
