This terrific new event was fun and informative with Fashion Designers, Hair–Makeup Stylist and Choreographers offering their expert advice and services to our teams. PR13 welcomed over a dozen Fashion Design students from Houston Community College. They came in force with sample garments, sewing kits and lots of “hands on” experience, ready to share with our design teams. Steelcase set up “stations” where the fashion designers offered instruction on everything from basic sewing skills and draping, to the more advanced pattern making and finishing. The Fashion Designers were incredibly helpful and our teams were very grateful. We want to thank Alex Chapman and his entire team for offering their time and expertise, which will no doubt add tremendous value to PR13. After brushing up on their sewing skills, teams were paired with their own hair and makeup stylist from Visible Changes. Also new this year, Visible Changes has generously offered their services free of charge to all PR13 design teams. Each team was able to discuss their design challenge with their stylist to create a custom look that will be unveiled at the Garment Judging and Fashion Show. We want to thank Novlette Spense and her entire team of talented stylist from Visible Changes, for their incredibly generous contribution to PR13 and for attending our first annual Fashion 101. Last but certainly not least, Chapter Board Industry Representative, Ingrid Bender & PR13 Crew Member, Heather Rogers, signed up teams for oneonone choreography sessions. Ingrid and Heather will use their background in dance & choreography to help teams present their garments to their best advantage. This is yet another free service from PR13! To sign up your team, just email us at: [email protected]
