WHAT ARE IGNEOUS ROCKS AND HOW ARE THAY FORMED

Igneous means made from fire or heat. When volcanoes erupt and the liquid rock comes up to the earth’s crust surface then new igneous rocks are formed.

What are two classifications of Igneous rocks?

There are two classifications of Igneous rocks

• Plutonic rockswhich have mineral grain sizes that are visible to the eye

• Volcanic types which are usually too fine-grained or glassy for their

mineral composition to be observed without the use

of a microscope.

How does this rock in my hand fit into my life?

Rocks fit in my life by providing me and my family roads to ride on. By having roads we are able to attend school and get from place to place. Igneous rocks provides minerals that can be used in soaps to keep us clean.
