Product Description

The IFRS 36 is a stainless steel internally fed contra-shear rotating perforatedscreen separator. Its simple and efficient design requires only 3/4 horsepower tofunction. High flow capacities and excellent solid removal make the IFRS 36suitable for any flush application. The CIP (Clean in Place) cleaning systemreduces screen clogging ensuring constant material processing rates. Driven bya SEW Eurodrive direct drive gearbox and TEFC (Totally Enclosed Fan cooled)motor, the screen is turned on Urethane trunnions with UHMW (Ultra HighMolecular Weight) bushings guaranteeing trouble free operation for many years.

Note: Read this entire manual before operating your IFRS 36 Separator toensure you know all safety precautions, to avoid damage to your unit and toensure a long life of trouble free operation.

Installation

Physical Installation

The IFRS 36 must be installed on a platform with stable footing to avoid shiftingor sinking. Plan for enough clear space at the discharge end of the unit toaccommodate the removal of processed separated solids or for the addition ofthe optional Accent RP36 Roller Press. You will also require space at the inletend to accommodate inlet and bypass piping for charging the unit.

Note: If you plan to include the Accent RP36 Roller Press now or in future withyour installation, you must plan for a space dropping 40” at the discharge end ofthe unit to accommodate the Roller Press and its liquid outlet plumbing.

Position the IFRS 36 on a stable elevated platform. The recommended elevationis between 5’ – 20’ above grade. This will allow for the safe accumulation andremoval of manure solids generated by the IFRS 36, that can then be removedby conveyor and or bucket loader. Secure the mounting feet to the platform using½ “ stainless steel hardware.

Warning: To avoid damage to the unit and/or personal injury, do not use a forkliftto raise the discharge end of the unit.

The IFRS 36 is normally operated with the discharge end elevated minimum 6”higher than the charge end. Lift the discharge end of the unit using a jack or otherapproved lifting device until the weight is off the adjustable feet (See Figure 2 inthe parts section of this manual). Remove the locking bolts from the adjustablefeet to allow up and down movement inside the square tube frame. Lift the IFRSuntil the feet have extended a 6” – 8” and the adjustment holes are aligned.Reinsert the locking bolts into the corresponding adjustment holes, release theunit’s weight onto the bolts, and tighten.

Electrical

The IFRS 36 is manufactured to operate at the voltage specified by the customer.A VFD (Variable Frequency Drive) unit is required to control the speed of rotationof the rotary screen.

Using wiring standards specified by local electrical codes, connect VFD L1, L2and L3 inputs to the IFRS 36 to a 230, 460 or 575 volt (as per unit voltage

Plumbing

An 8” female Ringlock connector is supplied at the inlet to the IFRS 36 forconnection to your material supply system.

Plumb the IFRS 36 liquid discharge port to your liquid drainage/storage systemsystem. A 12” ID stub pipe is supplied centrally located at the bottom of the unit. Also, an 6” stub pipe is provided under the inlet end of the unit for bypass of anyunprocessed material back to the supply system (See Figure 2 in the Partssection of this manual).

Connect a pressurized fresh water supply line with shutoff valve to the CIP inletport using 1 ½” FIPT coupling.

Operation

Caution: Keep hands and feet clear of the internal mechanism of this equipmentwhile operating. This unit is of sufficient mass and operating power to inflictserious injury.

Caution: Keep small children and animals away from this equipment whileoperating.

Caution: Do not open electrical panels on this equipment while power is applied.Lethal voltages are present.

Please see Specifications above for unit flow capacity. To avoid improperseparation, do not exceed unit flow capacity. Also see Step 5 below.

The IFRS 36 Separator is designed to separate manure into 2 components solidand liquid. Solids are discharged from the output end of the unit. The liquids aredischarged through the 12” OD stainless steel stub pipe located on the undersidenear the input end of the unit for connection to your drainage, storage or postprocessing system.

1. The inlet tube must be positioned / adjusted on site and prior to connectionto the supply piping.

2. Loosen the 2 inlet tube mounting clamps and move the inlet tube forwardor backwards so that the beginning of the slot opening corresponds to theseam between the sheet metal and screen section on the rotary screen.

3. The inlet tube must rotated clockwise or counterclockwise to position theslot opening at the 10:00 o’clock position. Final positioning will be doneduring initial startup.

4. Tighten the mounting clamps and connect supply piping to the 8” femaleRinglock Inlet Tube.

5. Close electrical interrupter and open CIP water supply to start unitoperation.

6. Begin manure input at a rate no greater than that listed in Specificationsabove. The unit automatically operates a series of water jets every 5minutes (adjustable) to wash the rotary screen and facilitate the separationprocess.

7. Observe operation closely for several minutes, watching for excess liquidescaping from the discharge end. Examine the consistency of the solidfraction output.

8. Loosen the mounting clamps just enough to be able to rotate the inlet, rotate the tube rotate so that the manure is cascading on to the screen(depends on pumping pressure and flow rate)

9. Adjust the rotational speed of the screen using the VFD to obtain thedesired consistency of the solid fraction.

10. If desired consistency of the solid fraction is not obtained, adjust thedischarge end elevation, material input rate and screen rotation speeduntil the desired results are obtained with optimum throughput. See theInstallation section of this manual to instructions on adjusting thedischarge end elevation.

Caution: Do not raise the discharge end of the IFRS 36 by blocking under thefeet. This may cause instability of the unit leading to personal injury or damage tothe unit and/or nearby equipment. The unit feet must be anchored to the platformat all times while the rotary screen is operating.

Maintenance

Early versions (2003) of the IFRS 36 used roller bearings for the rotary screendrive wheels, idler wheels and rotary screen stopper. These bearings requireperiodic greasing. Your 2004 unit or later is equipped with UHMW plasticbushings that are self-lubricating and require no maintenance. The rotary screenstoppers are fabricated from UHMW plastic that requires no maintenance.

After each use, allow the unit to run for 3 - 5 minutes to rinse the rotary screen. The CIP jets will activate and automatically clean the rotary screen. You maytemporarily reduce the CIP interval to speed up the cleaning process.

If the drive channels become fowled with debris, rinse the drive channels, driverollers and idler rollers thoroughly to ensure smooth trouble free operation.
