Principal’s Message [email protected]
Can you believe that it is already November! This
year is flying by. It is my hope that all of you are
pleased with Kimberly Elementary School.
Next week you should expect to receive Progress Re-
ports for your children. If you have concerns about
your child’s grades or attendance, your first line of
contact is your child’s teacher.
In the month of December I will host two “Principal’s Chat & Chews” for any
interested parents. This is an opportunity to meet the principal and share ideas
of ways to make our school better. The dates are tentatively set for: Thursday,
December 5, 2013 @ 8:30am—9:30am and Tuesday, December 17, 2013 @
5pm—6pm (right before the Winter Concert). Light refreshments will be
served.
This year we will have our first yearbook! Information about pre-ordering will
go out soon! Be on the lookout!

During the month of November, we will focus mainly on the magnificent character traits of fairness, thankfulness and helping. “Be thankful for what you have; you'll end up hav-
ing more. If you concentrate on what you don't
have, you will never, ever have enough.”
― Oprah Winfrey , American Media Proprietor,
Talk Show Host, Actress, Producer, and
Philanthropist
“Without darkness, we may never know how
bright the stars shine. Without battles, we could
not know what victory feels like. Without adver-
sity, we may never appreciate the abundance in
our lives. Be thankful, not only for the easy
times, but for every experience that has made
you who you are.”
― Julie-Anne , Inspirational Author
Remember, if you practice good character traits,
then the traits become life habits.

Self-esteem isn’t something you are born with.
Young children develop their sense of self worth. If
they receive only undesirable reinforcement, they
won’t think that much of themselves. But if they
constantly receive reassurance and applause, they
begin to develop a sense of pride. Each child is spe-
cial and has exceptional talents and abilities.
Tip # 1Tell your child that all people are
entitled to their point of view. Respect that
you child has his or her own point of view
too.
Tip # 2 Let your child know it’s okay to make
mistakes. Admit your own.
Tip #3 Praise your child’s effort, without
worrying about the results.
November is Child Safety and Protection Month
Parents should update their child safety protection plans each year.. Child
Safety and Protection Month gives us a reminder to check out everything from
our homes, to the gear our kids use to cyber safety education. With kids you
never want to leave anything to chance.
During the first full week of November, your school’s counselor, Mrs. Harkless-
Brown is partnering with Modern Woodman Financial to provide a child identifi-
cation kit, Safety and Life Skills workbook and pencil to each child in the
school.

Yes! That’s right! The student’s breakfast and lunch are free this school year! The
parents don’t even have to fill out a lunch application! That’s some tasty news!
