IEEE VOLT is a 6-months Fellowship program organized by IEEE MGA each year. Every year 20-35 IEEE Volunteers with effective leadership background and activities are selected and are trained with respect to each IEEE initiative and MGA goals and mission.

Designed to accelerate volunteers knowledge of IEEE’s organization, products & services, and resources and tools available to them

Helps Volunteers understand their role within their geographic units and the larger IEEE

Volunteers gain practical leadership experience and skills to apply in their professional environment

Set the stage for an on-going broader program to develop and prepare future IEEE leaders

Program’s expected outcome is to increase volunteers’ perception of IEEE as a valuable

resource to support them in their volunteer and professional careers

*Program Summary

Ran successful Pilot in 2013

–49 applicants; 21 participants selected

MGA Board approved 2014 program implementation

–118 applicants; 35 participants selected

–Criteria: two or more years as Volunteer, Graduate Member or higher

Program launched in April through October 2014

–Six-month long with weekly 1-hour live and/or recorded sessions

Formal Program Content

– First 3 months - Focus on IEEE foundational overview: IEEE and its organizational units and AGs

–Next 3 months – Focus on Leadership and Communication

Project Assignment; program and individual session surveys; session quizzes

End goal is to produce a Business Plan to be presented to MGA leadership

Six teams were formed and each team chose a final project

–Each team member worked on individual project in its geo unit

–Geounit leadership endorsement was required

Teams presented their final project to the Ad Hoc Committee

Ad Hoc Committee selects best ‘Top three’ project business plans

‘Top three’ project teams debrief to MGA leadership and the ‘Best Business Plan’ will be selected

All projects will be compiled and distributed to Section chairs and Region Directors
