How do I deactivate, delete or flag a user account?

Depending on the specific scenario, one or more of the below options will effectively

disable or expire an account.

Mark the Account as Inactive

This option will lock out the user account, rendering it inaccessible by anyone, and

is best used with the excluded reviewer option.

To enable this option:

1. Search for the user and edit the account. 2. Scroll to Roles and Permissions and click Edit.

3. In the pop up window, click the drop down menu for Member Status 4. Select Inactive Member or Not a Member.

5. Click Save.

Expire a Role(s)

This option will cancel out the relevant center and remove the user from role-based searches (e.g. reviewer searches).

To expire a role:

1. Search for the user and edit the account. 2. Scroll to Roles and Permissions and click Edit.

3. In the pop up window, set Hard End dates on the desired roles.

Mark the Account as an Excluded Reviewer

When this option is enabled, the user cannot be added to a manuscript as a reviewer.

To enable this option:

1. Search for the user and edit the account.

2. Scroll to the Roles and Permissions section and click Edit. 3. In the pop up window, click the drop down menu for Reviewer Status

4. Select the Excluded Reviewer option. 5. Click Save.

How do I deactivate, delete or flag a user account?

Configure Person Designations

Person Designations are labels that can be applied to various user accounts. Once a designation is configured and assigned to the account in question, the

designation will appear during searches and alert journal staff of the current status

of the account.

Configure an Account Flag for this Type of Account

Similar to Person Designations, account flags can be created and assigned to accounts and appear next to the user's name whenever it is viewed. If account

flagging is not activated for your journal, or if person designations are not set, you may send a request to IEEE Peer Review at [email protected].

Delete an Account

We do not recommend doing so as it will cause issues with historical data and can

affect the display of manuscripts. If deleting an account is required, please contact IEEE Peer Review at [email protected] for guidance.
