Abstract—The paper integrated Agent technology with Meta-Search Engine around university network public opinion monitoring, analyzed and designed its system framework with a view to achieve an intelligent and efficient information retrieval of monitoring of university network public opinion.

I. STATUS QUO OF UNIVERSITY NETWORK PUBLIC OPINION MONITORING

With the rapid development and wide use of the Internet, people’s public opinion space has been greatly expanded, and more and more netizen are accustomed to express their aspirations, to deliver their political and social issues, opinions, advice and recommendation through the platform. So public opinion has been extended from daily life to network virtual space.With the continued expansion of universities’ recruitment, the number of university students has exceeded 25million in 2008. Many university students are usually active in various campus forums to deliver their comments, to exchange information, to seek help, to express aspirations, to organize activities through network and so on. University campus as an integral part of the social community is not only a gathering position of various high-level talents, but also a public place of dense population. University students as a special social group, to some extend, stand for wind vane of various social thought. Therefore, university network public opinion is not only related to the stability and development of schools, if not handled properly, may even lead to the public opinion crisis of social group events and greatly affected the social stability. And then, these problems may be pay more attention that how timely and accurately find disadvantageous information dissemination to interrupt the stability and development of schools, how monitor, analyze, control and guard public opinion and issue crisis warning in time before the situation is not serious and how eliminate some campus disharmonious factor in the bud and with a view to achieve active and efficient crisis prevention, pre-control and emergency handling. At present, the monitoring analysis for campus network public opinion is the use of artificial method, however, due to the explosive growth of information quantity

and too much websites that need for real-time monitoring and tracking led to artificial method has difficult to deal with. Consequently, it is necessary using search engines technology to monitor university network public opinion.

II. INTRODUCTION OF INTELLIGENT META-SEARCH ENGINE TECHNOLOGY

Recently , the working principle of the most of the searching engine as show in figure 1: Search-spider periodically collects web page information in a global web server; process analyzes and sorts collected web pages, extract keywords, establishes index and puts into the index database of search engine; customers input keywords to query through user interface of the search engine. However, deficiencies of these search engines has widely existed that network searching coverage is limited and uneven, recall rate is not high, precision rate is instable, dynamic performance is poor and so on. Moreover, the search results contain a large number of information that unrelated to customers’ query and lack personality and intelligence. So it cannot complete mission perfectly search of massive network disseminate information.

2.1 Meta-Search Engine Meta-Search Engine (MSE) is also called Index Search

Engine or Integrated Search Engine. It takes internet as a very large dynamic database, adopts a series of optimal operated mechanism, respectively submits managed search engine query format for specific members to the actual search query, and processes the search engine results of members to provide a unified query interface for customers. In this way, it can provide relatively comprehensive and accurate information in the shortest possible time and solve limitation that a single search engine extracts information from the database. That is, customers only need to submit a search query quest. The meta search engine is responsible for converting the search format, sending to pre-selected members search engine, integrating all of returned query results and adopting a uniform format on the user terminal interface[1].

Meta-Search Engine is made up of 4 parts, that is, dealing with users’ query, scheduling of search engine and conversion

instructions, dealing with search result ranking and unified customization of results. As show in figure 2[2].

“Dealing with users’ query” is the unified query interface of users’ search request, it could realize personalized search request that users could appoint members search engine, restrict search results,and also automatically segment keywords of users’ search request; “Scheduling of search engine and conversion instructions” is responsible for unified accommodate members search engine, and convert search request into special command that is suitable for every members search engine, and then every members search engine based on search request to return the relevant information; “Dealing with search result ranking ”is responsible for integrate restrict and merger search results of every member search engine; “Unified customization of results” is responsible for present search engine result of members search engine to users.

acquire knowledge from the environment and improve its abilities. Thus an agent is self-determining, social, responsive and active computer hardware of software system [3]. An agent can establish a plan related to practical objectives according to users’ demands. It has also a certain level of control of its behavior and internal status, can response rationally to unexpected external changes, and is able to help users to search resources and realize personalized searches. This technology can be used in information filtering to select relevant information from high volume information flows. It can also be used to realize dynamic updating of information. As the

information indices database is continuously updated, the agent technology can be used to keep up the updates in the Meta-Search Engine.

2.3 Intelligent Meta-Search Engine

Intelligent Meta-Search Engine (IMSE) provides personalization and intelligence to a searching system by introducing artificial intelligence technologies to meta search engines. Such technologies include web-based data mining

2.2 Agent technology

Agent technology is one of the fastest developing technologies in artificial intelligence. An agent is elemental entity in distributed artificial intelligence. It combines reasoning and knowledge presentation, possesses knowledge, objective and abilities. An agent can function independently in certain environments, interacts with the environment, and can

techniques, personalized model-building techniques, deploying policy and management techniques for sub-search engines, text assorting and learning. The essence of such a technology is to integrate multiple independent search engines in a unified user interface,and increase the quality,efficiency and personalization of search service by the intelligent optimization of choosing different searching policies.

Compared to existing Meta-Search Engine, IMSE provides faster search speed, centralized information consulting and higher accuracy in information search. IMSE utilizes the agents' self-determining, activeness and the collaborations

between them to complete the information searches in the network.It can find out the information harmful to the stabilizing and development of higher educational institutes quickly and accurately, thus realizes intelligent, personalized and multidisciplinary search and monitoring of information distribution, and meets the demands for crisis alertness in Internet public opinion.

III. INTELLIGENT META-SEARCH ENGINE SYSTEM OF UNIVERSITY NETWORK PUBLIC OPINION MONITORING

3.1 System framework In the network environment, based on Agent Intelligent

Meta-Search Engine system of university network public opinion monitoring is divided into three layers: the user interface Agent in the outer layer, the network information search Agent in the middle layer, dealing with search results Agent in the inner layer. The system structure framework is view in figure 3[4].

The user interface Agent is working at each client of opinion monitoring functional department, which is responsible for users –system interaction. The user interface Agent contains the following main algorithm and module: user interface Agent selected algorithm;user feedback module;user feedback clustering algorithm ; personalized user generated algorithm;communication mechanism and so on.

Network information search Agent is responsible for network disseminating and searching of university public opinion information. The layer Agent analyzes search request that was sent by the user interface Agent, matches some

independent or members search engine combination that satisfy search request and optimizes them in order to send search result to the Agent layer of result processing.Network information search Agent contains 4 parts, that is, search request analysis module, management module of search strategy scheduling, search format conversion module, the knowledge base of search engine.

Search results processing Agent will be deal with search results that were sent back by search engine. It includes unified dealing with format of result text and data to remove duplication, ineffective and redundant link, and ranking them from high to low with the matching extend of keywords query, and finally submitting unified results and search index to the input /output interface and giving the feedback to users in order to provide evidence for the next phase of the crisis identification, analysis and evaluation. The layer mainly contains search results integration, filtering results ranking and search engine evaluation.

3.2 Working mechanism University network public opinion monitoring department

enter query request through the input /output interface. The query content is target at some hot, focal and sensitive spot of campus news, campus BBS forums, university teachers and students’ personal web pages or Blog.After the user Agent analyzing and transferring users’ personal search pattern database, similar to users’ past experience pattern is transferred by the Agent and returned to users to confirm. Confirmed search experience is sent to the next layer, network information search model. If without related pattern in the users’ personal pattern database, then as it returned to the user, the system will try a new search that the results of the search to be feedback, and establish a new search model file by clustering. The Agent responsible for the search result returns the processed results to the input/output interface and submits to the user. The user’s response would be gathered and selected into the user’s personal pattern database to further enrich it. The user Agent continued to analyze, learn and train through the user’s search request and browsed search results in order to it better adapt to the user’s dynamic changing needs.

When the user’s search request reach to the layer of network information search Agent, the search request analyzing model will decompose processed search request by the user’s interface Agent and reorganize them as the certain grammatical rules to convert the corresponding format, and finally input into the management module of search strategy scheduling. There has the search engine scheduling algorithm in the module and found a suitable search engine to match from search engine knowledge base according to the algorithm. Search format conversion module will convert search request into the search form that the corresponding members can identify. Knowledge base of search engine stored various

search condition and format of search engine, including the division of search topic, the speed of various topics, search performance ratio, such as precision ratio, recall ratio, check the new ratio and so on. Information of search engine knowledge base mainly comes from three aspects: the first one is the input and setting of the user’s experience threshold; the second one is search Agent, it could continue to analyze, integrate and intelligently self- studying through real time contained information, and it also could continue to search corresponding knowledge of search engine knowledge base to supplement and update; the third one is that the corresponding knowledge and information of search engine was provided by the layer of the agent responsible for the search result.

The Agent responsible for the search result will perform various actions on the matching results from the network information search level. Such actions include integrating, sorting, and redundancy removal. The results will be fed back to the user interface. In the meantime, the search engine is evaluated. The evaluation data will be added to the search engine's knowledge database, so that the database is extended and updated[5].

3.3 Application prospects Intelligent Meta-Search Engine system of early warning of

university network public opinion monitoring target at the information that University teachers and students concerned, Mainly the information refer to social stability, the school’s reputation, campus safety, decision-making of management, teachers and students’ rights[6]. In the monitoring process,it could identify hot and sensitive topics in a given period according to some parameters,such as word frequency statistics, time intensive extend of speaking, the quantity of reply and so on.We can use the system to search for such informations, retrieved results can be displayed with different dimensions, including the classification of the contents,the relevant figures and departments,the positive and negative information and so on.The system will classify the search results and display the statistics automatically under each dimension.We could analyze the degree of concerned theme of university teachers and students in a different time period according to the search results, and then find the adverse public opinion and the sensitive topic timely and report them to the network monitoring department of the school to provide a support for the department to make a decision.Therefore the department could make a guidance and control strategy actively to solve the network public opinion crisis in time.

IV. CONCLUSION In the information age,universities are facing massive of

network dissemination of information, therefore,it is importment that quickly and accurately search for these negative news and public opinion expression which is bad for the stability and development of the university.The paper integrated the Agent technology with Meta-Search Engine around university network public opinion monitoring in network-communication surroundings, analyzed and designed of an Intelligent Meta-Search Engine system of early warning of university network public opinion monitoring in the network

environment. Agent technology made university network public opinion search more intelligent and personal.Consequently,using the system find the unhealthy information of the network dissemination timely,give an early warning and an early prevention, a pre-control, an active intervention and a science guide,that it could make the university network dissemination toward a beneficial direction to build a harmonious campus.
