Profile

Interior Desires, the award winning design studio founded by Rebecca James, is quickly garnering

a reputation as a daring and exciting face in the interior design world. Inspired by fashion, they see

themselves the interior design equivalent of a bespoke tailor; with the ability to translate clients’

briefs into bespoke interiors.

Employing unashamedly bold designs that juxtapose masculine structures with feminine

undertones, Interior Desires' aim is to leave their mark on the design world by breaking all

conventions that confine creativity.



Rebecca James

Award winning interior designer Rebecca James is what one would describe as a woman of many talents. After

a short stint as a ballet dancer and a decade long career as a fashion model travelling the world, she decided to

enrol in Chelsea School of Art, reinventing herself as an Interior designer. Secretly she had always wanted to

be a designer as she spent her childhood rearranging her dormitory room in Elmhurst Ballet School.

Rebecca personally sources and designs a lot of her furniture herself as she believes that her interiors should

represent her client’s needs. She reflects

“I’m inspired by observing people’s passions and I believe that my interiors

should be as unique as one’s DNA with each detail reflecting an individual’s

inner character; this approach can often lead to daring and outrageous creations”.

A “Designer’s” designer, her opinions are highly respected in the industry and she has

penned numerous articles for some of the world’s top design publications.

What we do

Design

We provide a comprehensive design service which is realised by spending time with our clients and translating the briefs into a vision. This service includes mood boards, floor plans, sketches and CGI visual animation

Build

We manage our projects in their entirety to guarantee that the planning, structure and finishes are to the highest

possible standards. This allows us to play the role of a director bringing designs to life. Interior Desiresoversees building work on behalf of clients to ensure hi spec finishing. Our experienced team design managesprojects from conception to reality to alleviate the pain and stress of dealing with the construction process.

Lifestyle

We offer a concierge service to our clients once they have moved into their homes. Some of the perks offeredinclude booking reservations in the most sought after hotels and restaurants, providing solicitors to deal with

financial issues, or it could be just plain old retail therapy.

Commercial Projects



Description: Asian/European fusion Restaurant

Location: Westfield, London

Size: 2,300 square feet

Brief

To make a fashionable restaurant with a dash of Miami magic in the East end of London.

Outcome

The idea behind the design was to be fun, fashionable and appealing. Girls in jumpsuits and gold stilettos,

WAGs and fun loving families wanting a little taste of the trendy restaurants of London. The clientele loves to

frequent designer stores and want to be “wowed”. The designs were inspired by a classic Art Deco 1930’s

Chanel light and the current designer boutiques of today with their block colouring and detailed emblems.

They were further enhanced with architectural details so that the restaurant became free flowing, beautiful and

functional.



Description: Private member’s Club

Location: St James’s, London


Brief

Interior Desires was commissioned to revive this famous 1960’s club by adding a touch of glamour and

sophistication.

Outcome

The entire space was stripped out and rooms reconfigured to best maximize the limited space. Rebecca and her

team decided to give the club a modern day speak easy feel infusing what she describes as “Tartan on acid” intothe design. Distressed oak panelled walls, funky tartans, antique mirrors and a quirky antique chandelier make

this club one of a kind. Since its inception in January 2012, the club has attracted famous patrons such as

Prince Harry, Kate Moss and Rihanna to name a few.



Residential Projects



Montagu Square

Description: Grade II listed, 5 Storey Townhouse

Location: Mayfair, London


Brief

To create a colourful and flamboyant home for our client, while at the same time respecting the original

Georgian features. Part of the brief was to enlarge the kitchen and create outdoor space. The client’s final

request was “Dazzle me”

Outcome

A two storey extension was constructed to add an additional bedroom, a large family kitchen and a vibrant roof

terrace. An “Alice in Wonderland” themed design was brought together by bright colours, over-scaled furniture

and hidden gems in each of the rooms. This townhouse has become an award winning project featured in

numerous publications around the world.



Upper Phillimore Gardens

Description: Maisonette Apartment

Location: Kensington, London


Brief

To balance the grandeur of the rooms with contemporary furnishings that invoke hotel luxury. The client had

an energetic young son who he believed should be able to enjoy the home and not be confined.

Outcome

Accessories and unnecessary furniture were cast aside for a clutter free area which created a grown up yet child

friendly space. The colours of Madras, India were used, to form a warm and inviting environment so the client

would feel the surrounds of his homeland.



London Garden

Description: London Garden

Location: East Dulwich, London


Brief

To transform an overgrown site that hadn’t been touched for 20 years into a colourful and architectural

garden with an emphasis on entertaining.

Outcome

The exotic journey through the garden is a playful experience of water pools, magical steps and Arabian

seating. The space is architectural and enhanced by structural shrubs and colourful and vibrant scatter

cushions. Delicate lighting from Morocco was added to give authenticity. Morocco Meets the Orient.



Notting Hill Art house

Description: Art Apartment

Location: Notting Hill, London


Brief To create an interesting and vibrant interiors that complimented the client’s vast art collection which they had

collected on their travels. The clients entertain a lot so they wanted their interiors to serve as a talking point.

Outcome

A bold green entrance hall was created to balance the strong art and help the vast space seem meaningful. Anew bespoke kitchen was created by combining sleek functionality with warm tones and organic materials. The

talking point became the good old fashioned cloak room for guests which was covered in vibrant Fornasetti

Wallpaper; therefore making the loo an artwork upon itself.



Moor Place

Description: Grade I Listed Country Manor

Location: Much Haddam, Hertfordshire


Brief

Our Developer clients were having great difficulty selling this magnificent mansion due to the dated interiors

and approached us to breathe some new life into this sleepy manor.

Outcome

The team worked closely with a London based CGI animation company to give this home a modern twist while

still respecting the traditional structure and preserving the original architectural elements.
