Use Internal installation The ICUTEC Dampfbremse SD2 must be laid in strips with the unprinted fleece facing the insulation side, on the "warm" side of the thermal insulation, and must be stapled to the rafters and fastened with the battens. The vapour check must be laid tension-free and without being subjected to tensile or shearing forces. It can be laid either at right angles or parallel to the joists. The longitudinal overlap must reach up to the printing on the membrane. Lateral overlaps of at least 200 mm must be ensured. Vertical overlaps must always occur at a joist. Adhesive bonds at overlaps, penetrations and window joints must be made using ICUTEC Icusan and must be air tight. Joints on existing components must be bonded with ICUTEC Dichtkleber. When using mat and panel type insulation materials, tensile stresses to the adhesive tape joints are to be expected (e.g. due to the weight of the insulation material), additional supporting battens may be necessary on these joints at the overlap. Installation / external refurbishment The ICUTEC Dampfbremse SD2 must be laid externally over the joists, with the unprinted fleece facing the joists. Overlaps and penetrations must be taped airtight with ICUTEC Icutape aussen. During installation, it must be ensured that longitudinal overlaps must reach up to the printing on the membrane. Lateral overlaps of at least 200 mm must be ensured. Eave joints must be made using ICUTEC Dichtkleber (eave joist, wall plate/brickwork), bonded and mechanically fixed into place with a pressure batten. For correct function of the vapour check, the entire roof structure and the joints must be taken into account. Installation under on-roof insulation The ICUTEC Dampfbremse SD2 must be laid tension-free, parallel to the eaves. In enclosed areas, the strips must be fastened using staples or clout nails. Sealing of penetrations must be carried out using ICUTEC Icusan. Overlaps must be bonded using ICUTEC Icusan.
