It has been agreed that North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service will apply abatement to any role to which a retiree from the Firefighters’ Pensions Scheme is appointed following widening of the discretions available to Fire and Rescue Authorities.

Abatement is the process of reducing or stopping a member’s pension if a member retires and then returns to work in the public sector. Government policy is that pension payments should be abated where a member is reemployed in the public sector and receives a pension and salary which exceeds their earnings before retirement.

Anyone in the Local Government Pension Scheme is subject to the rules on abatement if they are re-employed and in receipt of a pension.

JOB DESCRIPTION (PRIMARY FUNCTIONS):

GIS Maintain and administer the intranet GIS supplied by CadCorp.  Creation of web map

pages, maintenance of datasets, responsible for SQL links from CFRMIS and incident datasets.

Production of Countywide maps, displaying varying datasets at various map scales. Routing analysis of incident data for inclusion in Management Reports. To act as the Service Liaison Officer with Ordnance Survey (OS). Order, convert and

process this mapping into various formats for upload to all of NYFRS GIS. Carry out training for staff in the use of GIS, mobile data, intranet GIS and hydrant

systems.

Control Room Support Provide maintenance and support to the Control Room:

o Frequent mapping updates to a live systemo Maintenance of the operational crewing databaseo Support for the call logging softwareo Update the routing data to enable dynamic mobilisingo Manage the mobilising road speedso Process, upload and maintain the addressing datasets

ICU (Incident Command Unit) for use at major incidents Purchase, install and maintenance of GIS software on board the Incident Command

working with Technical Services on tendering and procurement procedures. Work with all NYFRS management and station personnel on Ad-Hoc requests using

various GIS and data analysis techniques as well as using a variety of media to publish any work that is done.

To work on specific project / Technical Appraisal Groups (TAG) and provide GIS and data analytical skills to meet the requirements of the project / TAG.

Provide Performance Monitoring data to management within NYFRS.
