Capturing image and creating image library

Images can be captured by many ways by:● shooting images using camera, mobile camera, web camera● taking screenshots of images● scanning images using a scanner

Capturing images through Camera

Step 1: Insert the memory card and battery into the camera as shown in the picture

Step 2: Click on the power button to switch the camera on

Step 3: Focus on the thing to be captured and click n the capture button.

Step 4: Remove the memory card from the camera and insert it into to the card reader as shown.

Step 5: Insert the memory card into the USB slot of the CPU.

Step 6: Open ‘My Computer’ and select the drive that shows the card reader.

STEP 7: Open the drive and select the captured pictures. Copy and paste the picture to a place in PC. It can also be copied by double clicking on the image and dragging the pictures to the required folder on the PC. Thus the images captured in the camera can be transferred to the computer. One the images are copied, the images can also be deleted to have space in memory card for further use. After copying the image remove the memory card safely.

Capturing images through Mobile cameraMobile can also be used to capture images. Open the apps 'camera' in the mobile and after focusing on the object click the capture button. Remove the memory card from the mobile and using card

reader transfer the image from memory card to computer following the similar steps mentioned for camera.

Capturing image using Webcam

Step 1: Search for apps ' Cheese Webcam Booth' and open the application.

The application opens as shown below focusing on the object opposite to the camera:

Step 2: Place the object to be captured before the webcam and click 'Take a photo' at the bottom middle of the application. The captured image appears at the box at the bottom of the application.

Step 3: Right click on the image, select 'save as' and by giving appropriate name and specifying teh location save the image. By default the image gets saved as '.jpg' file.

Capturing images through screen shots

Capturing image using screen shot can be done in different ways. The application 'screen shot' is useful in taking screenshot in various ways. To open the application, select 'search computer' icon, type 'screenshot' and select the application by double clicking on it.A screen as appears listing the options of how screenshot is to be taken like:

Grab the whole area:When the whole screen is to be captured, select 'Grab the whole area and click 'take

screenshot'. The whole screen is captured and a textbox appears for saving the captured image. Select the appropriate folder and name to save the image. By default the image gets saved as '.png' file. The image can be retrieved from the same location for later use. While saving, the image can also be copied to a clipboard and editing can be done using any editing applications.

The whole screen can also be captured using a shortcut. Simply press the ‘prt scr’ key of your keyboard. It stands for ‘print screen’ and is located above the ‘backspace’ key on the right top of your keyboard. When the screen is pressed the whole screen gets captured and the window for saving the file gets opened. The image can be saved in the similar way.

Delayed capturing of the whole screen can also be done by selecting 'Grab the whole are' in the screenshot application and specifying the amount of time to delay. By doing this, the screen which will be there after the time of delay will be captured. This is useful when certain selection or after some movements, the screen needs to be captured.

Grab the selected window:By selecting “Grab the selected window', only the open application window (Eg: My paint) gets captured. The difference between whole area and current window can be seen from the image below:

The selected portion of the screen can be captured by selecting 'Grab the selected area' option. In the above image if the text alone is required it can be done using this option and the image can be got as shown below:

Capturing images using scanne r

Step 1: Connect the scanner to the CPU through the given USB cable. Insert the USB end of the cable in the USB port of the CPU and the scanner end in the the port in the scanner and the power cable in the power socket. These are at the back of the scanner. Switch on the power supply to Scanner and CPU

Step 2: Search for the apps 'Simple scan' or 'XSane Image Scanner' and open the apps.

If any message appears as shown below, then check the scanners connection and set it right.

Step 3: Open the scanner top and place the document to be scanned facing down on the scanner (i.e.on the document table) as shown in the picture.

Step 4: After placing the document in the scanner, click on the 'scan' on the application. Once the image is scanned thumbnail of the picture appears on the window.

Step 5: Save the image by clicking 'save' and giving appropriate name. By default the image gets saved as '.jpg' file.
