intelligent
console
for
the
storage
environment
that
provides
a
set
of
policy-driven
automated
tools

managing
storage
capacity,
availability,
events,
performance
and
assets
in
your
enterprise
environment,
including
NetWare,
NAS,

and
Microsoft
Cluster
Server
technologies,

Storage
Resource
Manager
can
help
you

Understanding
Your
Environment
Before
installing
and
configuring
IBM
Tivoli
Storage
Resource
Manager’s
NAS
functionality,
you
must
be
aware
of
the
domains
for:

the
user
whose
ID/password
IBM
Tivoli
Storage
Resource
Manager
will
use
to
log
into
the
discovering/scanning
agent
and
NAS
filers
A system or storageadministrator can runthe Tivoli StorageResource Manager UIcomponent from the localdirect connect client, or alocal web clientmachine.
NASFilesystems NAS Filers
The Server directs all aspects ofTivoli Storage Resource Manager operations.All user requests made in the UI are sent tothe Tivoli Resource Manager Server. TheServer retrieves the appropriate data fromthe central repository and returns it to the UI,allowing the user to construct and displayreports. It also directs Agent activity via itsembedded job-scheduling component

valid,
fully-qualified

ID

password

each

the
listed
NAS
filers
that
do
not
accept
the
default
login
ID

password.
The
user
logins
must
have
permission
to
enumerate
the
filesystems
in
every
NAS
filer

you
want
to
run
discovery.

Discovery
job
against

filers.

will:

gather
information
about
the
filesystems
visible
on
those
filers

the
Agent.
For
UNIX,
it
gathers
information

file
systems

it
can

see

Group

you

a

monitoring
groups,
a
resource
can
appear
in
one
or
more
reporting
groups.

reporting
groups
to
view
storage
information

monitoring

a
resource
can
appear
in
only
one
monitoring
group
at
a
time,
you
can
use
reporting
groups
to
include
resources
from
different
