INTERNATIONALLY ACCREDITED by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges ( WASC) , U.S.A.;Recognized by the Department of Education as a School of the Future;

Why do students submit portfolios?

contributes heavily to anxiety. Be sure yourchild goes to bed early the night before anexam.

4. Eat a healthy breakfast: Blood sugar is atits lowest in the morning. In order for yourchild to think and problem-solve effectively, she needs a good breakfast.

5. Come early and prepared: By arriving tothe test early and with the right supplies (e.g.,sharpened pencils, calculator), your childcan avoid being stressed about small details.(http://www.collegeboard.com/parents/plan/hs-steps/32176.html)

The student portfolio is an organized collectionof personal reflection, grades, and work samplesfrom the classroom that reflect a student’sprogress during the academic year. Portfolioscan reveal the range of skills and understandingon the students’ part; support instructional goals;reflect change and growth over a period of time;encourage student, teacher, and parent reflection;and provide for continuity in education from oneyear to the next. Teachers use them for a varietyof specific purposes, including:

• Encouraging self-directed learning• Enlarging the view of what is learned• Fostering learning about learning

• Demonstrating progress toward identifiedoutcomes• Creating an intersection for instruction andassessment• Providing a way for students to value themselvesas learners• Offering opportunities for peer-supported growth

In SISC, portfolios are submitted at the end ofeach term. To ensure that students have ampletime to organize their portfolios, and also usethe output for review, the submission of portfoliosfor the term will be the following Monday after theexam week.

Secure termexam clearanceThe First Term Exams will be on September6 - 9, 2011. Please settle your accounts atthe soonest possible time so we canprocess your child’s Term Exam Clearance.

Students who have settled their accountswill be issued a Term Exam Clearance witha reply slip to be returned to the ClassAdviser. The “Term Exam Clearance” shouldbe presented to the adviser/proctor on thefirst day of the examination week for thestudent to be able to take the exam. Thosewho have settled their account as ofSeptember 5, 2011 will receive the termexam clearance.

Credit Card Payment

The school cashier accepts tuition paymentusing credit cards from BPI and other majorcredit cards (locally issued).

Handling examstress

Pressure to get high marks can increase astudent’s anxiety over grades, and make examsa nerve-wracking experience. If your child getsnervous before term exams, encourage him orher to try the following tips and strategies forkeeping anxiety down and energy up for the nextbig exam:

1. Don’t cram: Studying like crazy the nightbefore an exam can leave your childexhausted and more stressed out thanbefore, so encourage him or her to study insmall doses over several days.

2. Take practice tests. Knowing the formatand style of a test can keep anxiety at bay,so have your child take practice exams ifthey’re available.

3. Get a good night’s sleep. Lack of sleep

Who will go toextendedmidyear class?Students who will get a grade of LA (Low Average),P (Poor), or Inc (Incomplete) during the First Termwill have to attend the remedial class on Oct. 24-28, 2011so they will get a better understandingof the subject.

A removal exam will then be given to ensure thatthe students gain the skills necessary to succeedin their level.
