examine the principles and practices associated with one of the four IB

programmes—Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme

(MYP), Diploma Programme (DP) and the IB Career-related Certificate

(IBCC). The courses that lead to this certificate shape pre-service, new and

experienced educators into reflective practitioners and teacher researchers.

IB certificate in teaching and learning Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction with Teaching Certificate (CITE)

Bilkent University is a private foundation university, located on a beautiful campus near Ankara, the capital of Turkey.

The university recently ranked 39th in the Times Higher Education list of the world’s best 100 universities under the

age of 50 years.

The Graduate School of Education is dedicated to producing well qualified high school teachers in its pre-service

Master’s program. Since the Graduate School of Education opened in 2000, we have graduated nearly four hundred

teachers. Many have since gone on to take their place as leaders in schools, and are already making a contribution

to the development of education in Turkey.


This rigorous two-year program in teacher education at Bilkent University Graduate School of Education awards a

Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction, together with an IB certificate and teacher qualification that enables

graduates to teach in high schools.

Currently, the Graduate School of Education accepts students in four subject areas: biology, mathematics, Turkish

language and literature, and English. These students are then trained to be high school teachers in Turkey, especially

in IB World Schools.

A strong feature of the program is students’ experience in schools. Each semester students are introduced to leading

high schools in Ankara, Istanbul and Izmir, observing classes and teaching. Teaching experience includes training with

mentors and guidance from professionals in five leading schools in Turkey. In addition, students have an internship

in England where they spend three weeks at the University of Cambridge in the Postgraduate Certificate in Education

program, followed by two weeks in an independent school.

IB certificate in teaching and learning Master’s in Effective Teaching and Leadership Program

IB certificate in teaching and learning Non-degree Graduate Program

Butler is a nationally recognized comprehensive university encompassing six colleges: Arts, Business,

Communication, Education, Liberal Arts and Sciences, and Pharmacy and Health Sciences. They offer more than 60

undergraduate areas of study, eight pre-professional programs, and 19 graduate programs. Around 4,700 students

are enrolled, representing 45 states and 49 countries. Butler’s overall placement rate for the class of 2012 was 94

percent, including 19 percent who went on to graduate or professional school.


Butler will offer its sequence of four IB certificate courses as an option for practicing teachers interested in IB-focused

professional development, as well as for active educators enrolled in the Master’s in Effective Teaching and Learning

(METL) program. All IB certificate courses can be completed in one year. Credits can be applied to the METL degree.

Seasoned IB teachers from central Indiana K-12 schools assisted Butler College of Education (COE) in developing its

IB curriculum. Area IB practitioners will co-teach the certification courses at Butler along with COE faculty, provide

opportunities for in-classroom experiences, and participate in ongoing curriculum assessment.

IB certificate in teaching and learning Fully Online Global Teacher Studies and Preparation: IB Primary and Middle Years Programs

The CSUSM School of Education, in collaboration with Extended Learning, is proud to offer the Fully Online Global

Teacher Studies and Preparation: International Baccalaureate Primary and Middle Years Programme.

In response to the overarching need to bring San Diego students an international perspective and deeper

understanding of people and their cultures to the classroom, CSUSM now offers courses of study recognized by

the International Baccalaureate. These courses develop teachers’ understanding of the principles and practices

associated with the IB Primary Years Programme and Middle Years Programme.

Candidates who successfully complete one of these courses of study are eligible to apply and earn the IB certificate

in teaching and learning. The program prepares San Diego area teachers (K-10) to serve in schools that implement

the IB curriculum.


We believe that teachers studying the IB philosophy and framework need time to bring these strategies and lesson

Minimum entry requirements An approved degree and an approved teaching qualification; or

An approved four-year teaching degree; or

An approved equivalent qualification which is recognised by the Melbourne Graduate School of Education (MGSE)

as evidence of adequate preparation for the course and a record of professional or teaching experience in a field and

at a level acceptable to MGSE.

This official teacher training degree is a blended one-year long degree. It

is made up of four core modules: an online course in psycho-pedagogy,

an on-campus specialization module, a practical experience module and

a final Master´s Degree project. Each student has a personal coach to

offer support and guidance thoughout the full course.

The course has five different specialization modules which are:

• Foreign Language Teaching and CLIL

• Human and Social Sciences

• Language and Literature

• Natural and Experimental Sciences

• Educational Guidance

The practical module offers students the unique opportunity of

working in secondary schools during the months from April to June.

This offers an invaluable chace to experience hands-on class planning,

The MA in Education Studies—IB Strand is a distinctive and highly flexible course. It is designed to provide students

The five course modules provide progression, beginning with critical reflection on the IB Learner Profile and

culminating in the dissertation. Students learn throughout about different approaches to research and there are

opportunities to gain first-hand experience in undertaking research in an IB context.
