International Air Transport Association (IATA)

• It is the prime vehicle for inter airline co-operation in promoting safe , reliable,

secure and economical air services for the benefit of the world’s consumers

• It was founded in Hague (1919) and it is headquartered at Montreal, Canada

• Today IATA has around 265 members from 117 nations in every part of the

globe

• It represents 83 % of total traffic

IATA AREAS OF TRAVEL• 3 AREAS OF TRAVEL• Areas are called ‘Traffic Conferences or TC’• Used to establish airfare prices and flying zones

• Ural mountain of Russia and Tehran in Middle East divides TC-2 with TC-3.

• TC-1 is known as ‘Western Hemisphere’

• TC-2 and TC-3 are together known as ‘Eastern Hemisphere’

TRAFFIC CONFERENCES

TRAFFIC CONFERENCE (TC) -1• It comprises North and South American continents

• Area 1 or TC 1 includes: (Sub areas) North America Central America (excluding Panama) South America ( including Panama) The Caribbean and Hawaiian Islands Greenland Bermuda

TRAFFIC CONFERENCE (TC) -2• Area 2 or TC 2: Europe, Africa and Antarctica which includes:

• Europe (including Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, and Russia west of the Ural Mountains)• The Middle East ( including Egypt and Sudan)• Africa (Excluding Egypt, Sudan, Morocco, Algeria, and Tunisia)

o Eastern Africa - Burundi, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia, Tanzania, Uganda

o Central Africa – Malawai, Zambia and Zimbabweo South Western Africa - Botswana, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa

and Swaziland.o Western Africa - Angola, Benin, Burkina, Faso, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Central

African Republic etc.

• Indian Ocean Islands - Angola, Benin, Burkina, Faso, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Central African Republic

• Antarctica

TRAFFIC CONFERENCE (TC) -3• Area 3 or TC 3: Asia and Australia which includes:

• Asia (including Russia east of the Ural Mountains)• Australia• New Zealand• The South Pacific

• Traffic Conference (TC) Area-3 sub areas are : SOUTH EAST ASIA - Afghanistan, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Maldives, Sri Lanka,

Bhutan, Nepal SOUTH ASIAN SUB CONTINENT - Brunei, Darussalam, Kyrgyzstan, Palau, Cambodia,

Laos, Philippines, China (excluding Hong Kong SAR And Macao Sar), Macao SAR, Russia (In Asia) etc.

JAPAN, KOREA (Japkor) – Japan and North & South KoreaSOUTH WEST PACIFIC - American Samoa, Australia, New Caledonia, Tonga, New

Zealand etc.
