Select the Best Location

floor or ground. Curtains and otheT objects withina room should be prevented from b}ocking the airllow.

E. Be certain the proper electrical ouFiet is withinreach of the Installation. Use only a singleoufiet circuit rated at 15 amps. NI wiring shouldbe in accordance with local and nationalelectrical codes,

1. Preparation to Remove theAir Conditioner Slide-Out Chassis

• Positionthe air conc_tioner in the normal (upright)position.

• Remove the air filter by grasping the fiiter handle(on front grill) and sliding it to the right

• Remove the phillips screw (behind filter)securingthe grill frontto the chassis, (F_g,2)

° Remove the phillips screws located on the (lower ,z.left/right) edge of front grill,. (Fig.,1)To remove the front gdll, grasp the {ewer frontcorner of the grill,pulling (genlly) outward andupward, (Fig3)Repeat thts step on the 3 remaining cerners.

• Remove the two phillips screws (lower leWright --z-side of cabinet)securing the slide-out-chassisto the cebineto (Flg.5)NOTE: These screws must be reinstalled

upon completion of the window Installation.{to secure slide-out-chassis)

• Grasp lhe pult handle at the frontof thesl[de-out-chassls and carefully slide the airconditioner out of the cabinet. (Flgo4)Please seek assistance for th_sprocedure,

2. Assembly of the Upper & LowerChannels, to Cabinet.

"L" Shaped Top Channel; Install the "L"shaped channel to the top of the cabinet asshown in Fig. 8 using four (4) 1/4" screws°"U" Shaped Bottom Channel: install the "U"shaped channel to the bottom of the cabinet asshown in Fig, 8 using four (,1) I14" screws.NOTE; Some models may already have thebottom channel factory installed,

Slide the shutters inlo the lop end bottomchannels as shown in Fig. 9.The shutlers areidentified (on frame) as left& right. Attach theshulters to the cab}netusing four 1/4" screws oneach s}de.

3. Installation of Mounting Brackets andFirst Sealing Strip

SPECIAL NOTE: Window applications come tna variety of different styles, Therefore, It maybe necessary to modify or improvise yourparticular fnstalfatlon,

3a, Assemble the leveeingscrew bracket to thebracket assembty as shown in Rg,_0, usingfour 1/4" screws provlded_ Inslal] the levelingscrews into each of the leveling screwbrackets.. (this will require the use of anadjustable wrench)

3b_ Measure the inside window sill length and findthe center as shown In Fig. 11. From this ltne,measure 8-118" on each side and mark these

points, Align the V-slot in each bracketon thesemarks end mount to the sillusing four 3/4"screws provided. Brackets shoufd be

perpendicular to the inside window sill,wilh stepin bracket tight against the sill.. See Figs12.

3CoAdjust the leveling screws until the brackets liltno more than 3/16" downward to the outside,Do net atlowthe brackets to slant inward ascondensation could possiblyddp on interiorwalls and Iloors. See Fig. I2

3do Cut the 1st foam sealing strip to fit theunderside of the bottom window sash. Removethe peel-off backing on the foam end attach it Iothe sash° See Fig. t3_

4. Instsl|ation of the CabinetModelsDAC5020

4b. Align one hole in the bottom of the cabinetwithone hole inthe bracket assembly.Secure 1he cabinet to the bracket using at/4" screw provided. Repeat the sameprocedure on the opposite side of thecabinet. See Fig. 15

4c. Check to make sure that the cabinet is slanted

slightlydownward on the outside, If necessary,re.adjust the levelling screws _nthe supportbrackets.

4d+ Cut the first foam sealing strip to lit theunderside of lhs bottom window sash. Removethe peel-off backing on the foam and atlach it tothe sash° See Fig, 13.

5. Completing the Installation for All Models• Carefully slide the alr condiltoner back into

the cabinet, (in window)(ptease seek assislance for this procedure)Reinstall (slide-out-chassis) secudly screwsremoved earlier on the (lower left/right) side ofthe cabinet. Figo 7

• Expand the shutter frames (fully) on each sideand secure the top of the frames to the windowaash using one 314" screw & flat washer oneach side. Fig_23

• Instalf shutter clamp on each side of the (lower)shutter and secure lo window sillusing one3/4" screw & flat washer on each side. Fig.23

Reinstalling Front Panel Grilh

Posit_ori the front panel assembly on thecabinet start(ng at the top.The front panel locktabs must be Inserted into the retaining slots inthe cabinet,

Repeat thTsprocedure on all sides, making surethe fresh air vent_ation lever arm and powercord are properly installed back to their orTginalpoeition_Secure the front grill to the cabinet using th_phillips screws removed earlier. Fig'sol & 2Install the air filter.

Out the second loam seal to fit the openingbetween _he top of the inside and oulstdewindow. (Ffg, 24.,)Some installations may require additionalsealing around lhe window and alr conditioner.Check for any air leaks and seal wherenecessary.Under very humid conditions, water removalmay be excessive enough to overflow from therear of the unit or increase noise levels of theair conditioner., If this occurs, consider atlachinga standard drain (garden) hose (notfnciuded) to the drainplug at the rear of theunit,allowing condensatfon to run offconveniently. (Fig, 25.)

SELECTOR Switch FunctionThe selector switchcontrols fan speed and!or

coo_ng speed, To set desired coolingtemperature, simply rotate the SELECTORknob to the appropriate setting.

LOW FAN wiIIo_rculateair at minimum speedwithout cooling.

MED FAN wii! circulate air at medium speedwithout cooling,

HIGH FAN wifl circulate air at maximum speedwithout cooling.

LOW COOL provides cooling wtlh minimum atrcirculation. Recommended for night-time use,

MED COOL provides coolingwith intermediatealr circulation. Recommended for averagesummer-Ume cooling. Once room Is tooted,reduce setting to LOW COOL.

HiGH COOL provides cooling with maximumair circulaltom Recommended for quick coolingor Ior extremely hot days, Once room iscooled, reduce setting to LOW COOL.

NOTE: Always allow 3 minutes before

swilohing from one mode to another.

When servicing the air conditioner, be sure toturn the SELECTOR knob to the "OFF" positionand disconnect the power cord from theelectrical outlet_

I_ DO NOT use gasoline, benzine, thinner or otherchemicals on the air conditioner as these

substances may cause damage to the paint finishand deformation of plastic paris.

Air Filter Information

If the air filter becomes ctogged wilh dust, air Itowis obstructed and reduces efficiency. The air filtershould be cleaned every 2 weeks.

Air Filter Removal:The air filter on the above model is

located behind the air Intake front grill.To remove the air li}ler, grasp the tiller handle onthe front of the grill and sltde- it (out) to the right.

To reinstall the atr _ter, reversethe above proceduresoThe alr filtermay be vacuumed orwashed by-handin warm waler_ Dry thoroughlybefore installing°

DO NOT forget to install the air filler, if the airconditioner is left to operate without the air filter,dust is not removed from the room air and mayresult in roach[no failure°

When the air inlet grill and cabinet are dirty_ wipewith lukewarm water (below 40°0)° Use of a milddetergent ts recommended.

Cleaning Air Filter

1. Use a vacuum cleaner with soft brushattachment.

2. Wash the filter in lukewarm water below 40°C

€I04°F): To get better results, wash with soapywater or a neutral cleaning agent.

3_ Rinse the filter with clean water anddry thoroughly before re-installing.

End-of-Season Care

1. Operate the fan alone for half a day to dry out theInsideof the unit.

2. Turn elf power and remove ptug from wall aocket°

3. Clean filter.

4o Store (covered) air conditioner in a dry location.
