All the year. Realistic. Reproducible.

Climate simulation Why does the vehicle not start with reduced air pressure? Why does the new component react so sensitively with cold?

Technical products are subject to various climatic and other environmental influences during their employment, which affect the efficiency and life span. Knowledge of aging processes and their dependence on climate and weathering are hence of vital importance for the optimal development of a product.

We have been testing products and components for the automobile, aviation and aerospace industry for many years. Test items are purposefully exposed to fast aging. Our results are directly imple- mented in the product development of our customers.

Profit from our authority and experience of many years: We consult and support acceptance tests, the evaluation of test specimens as well as the documenta-tion and interpretation of test results. We work closely with you to fine tune the optimisation of your products.

Our services Environmental and functional tests applying temperature, dampness, sun and reduced air pressure (height) conditions Cold starting, warm-up and heat run tests of vehicles and engines

Altitude chambersDoes your vehicle start in 2.000 m altitude just as reliably as on sea level? How do the emissions change during trips in high altitudes?

In our accessible decompression chambers we test components and vehicles regarding their altitude capability or measure the output of exhaust emissions in line with standard test cycles.

High altitude chamber – Usable interior [L x W x H]: 8.5 m x 4.5 m x 4.3 m – Temperature range (in roller dynamometer operation): -30 … 50 °C – Adjustable air humidity: up to 95 % relative humidity – Atmospheric pressure: max. 630 hPa (up to 3.800 m altitude above sea level) – Cooling capacity: max. 180 kW – CVS exhaust emission measurement with roller dynamo-

meter (vmax 200 km/h, max. output 210 kW, tractive force 6 kN) and air fan (volumetric flow rate up to 34.000 m3/h, fan speed up to 130 km/h)

Vacuum chamber – Usable interior [L x W x H]: 6 m x 3 m x 3 m

– Temperature range: -70 … 80 °C – Cooling capacity: max. 150 kW – Atmospheric pressure: max. 50 hPa (up to 20.000 m above sea level)Exhaust measuring

Temperature/climatic chambersIn our climatic chambers we test vehicles and components regarding their behaviour in predefined temperature and air humidity conditions. Overview of our chambers including their specifications:

Temperature chamber – Usable interior [L x W x H]: 5.5 m x 4.5 m x 4 m – Temperature range: -80 … 150 °C – Cooling capacity: max. 150 kW

Climatic chamber – Usable interior [L x W x H]: 10 m x 4.5 m x 4.3 m – Temperature range: -40 … 120 °C – Adjustable air humidity: up to 95 % relative humidity – Cooling capacity: max. 120 kW

Two of our walkable and drivable climatic chambers are especially designed for vehicles and functional tests of entire units. The implemented roller enables the engine adjustment to certain temperatures and hence testing under specific conditions.

Vehicle chamber I – Usable interior [L x W x H]: 7 m x 3.5 m x 2.6 m – Temperature range: -70 … 80 °C – Cooling capacity: max. 190 kW – Roller dynamometer up to v = 120 km/h,

brake performance: max. 40 kW

Vehicle chamber II – Usable interior [L x W x H]: 8 m x 5 m x 2.5 m – Temperature range: -30 … 60 °C – Cooling capacity: max. 110 kW – Roller dynamometer up to v = 120 km/h,

brake performance: max. 53 kW – H2-compatible, explosion-proof hydrogen vehicles

Sun and corrosion

SunWith our sun simulation facility we simulate the natural sun-light spectrum. In the chamber the sun exposure can be combined with climatic conditions (temperature and humi-dity). The aging of plastic construction parts of vehicles for example is tested this way. On a surface of 2 m x 3 m we can vary the distance of a test specimen to the emitter field.

Technical data – Radiation power: 700 to 1.000 W/m² – Temperature range: -30 … 90 °C – Humidity: adjustable – Usable surface irradiated: 6 m²

CorrosionIn order to simulate natural corrosion processes, we combine different tests in such a way that different stress factors can affect the test specimen simultaneously. In our chambers we can test your test specimen combined under salt sprays or sulfur dioxide and simultaneous mechanical stress using ser-vo-hydraulic cylinders as well as temperature and humidity. We simulate the required environment with various tests and combination options to customise tests to our clients needs.

Our accredited material laboratory with its sophisticated test and analysis techniques provides the concluding comparison of artificially aged new test specimens with „naturally“ aged test specimens.
