As you arc aware that Natioual Ilandicapped Finance and Development Corporation (NHFDC) isimplementing two schemes of Scholarship for Ministry of Social Justice amp Empowerment Govt of India for thestudents with disabilities Under these schemes 2500 new scholarships are provided every year for pursuingh igherprofessiona Itechn ica I courses

For both the Schemes students may apply online at NHFDCs website (wwwnhfdcnicin) The briefdetails are as follows-

(i) Scholarship Scheme (Trust Fund) Under this scbeme 2000 Scholarships are provided to eligibledifferentlyabled students for Ilegree and Post G bullbullbulldllatc level professional and technicalcourses from recognized institutions in India The students may apply online (wwwnhfdcnicin)any time in academic year and submit hard copy of the application duly recommended by head ofthe institutioncollege along with allested copy of requisite documents Tbe Scholarship amountranges up to 150 lacs depending upon course fee maintenance allowance books amp stationaryallowance and aids amp appliances of student The students may apply online (wwwnhfdeniein) andsubmit hard copy of the application duly recommended by head of the institutioncollege alongwith attested copy of requisite documents nt any lime during the Academic Year

(ii) Scholarship Scheme (National Fund) Under this scheme 500 Scholarships are provided in ayear to the students with disabilities for pursuing Post Matric professional and technical courses ofmore than one year duration The students may apply online (wwwnhfdcnicin) and submit hardcopy of the application duly recommended by head of tbe institutioncollege along with allestedcopy of requisite documents from July 2014 to 31 August 2014

1 Scholarship Scheme (Trust Fund) -

bull Under this scheme 2000 Scholarships will be awarded to eligible students with disabilities for degreeand post graduate level professional and technical courses from recognized institutions in India

bull 30 scholarships will be reserved for girls which will be transferable to male students in case of non-availability of female candidates

bull Applicants may apply at any time in academic year for scholarship under this scheme Scholarshipswill be awarded quarterly basis for the applications received in preceding quarter Under this schemean advance copy of application should also be submitted online (wwwnhfdcnlclnJ by the candidate

bull Reimbursement af NonRefundable fees restricted to the limit of fee of similar courses in GovernmentGovernment -aided institutions Maintenance allowance will be paid to the students for 10 months Rs2500 per month for Professional Graduate Courses and RS3000- per month for Professional Post-Graduate Courses in one academic year

bull BooksStationery allowance will be paid to students pursuing Professional Graduate Courses RS6OOO per annum and RS10OOO per annum for pursuing Professional Post-Graduate Courses

bull Differently-abled students in addition will be provided financial assistance for purchase of aids amp appliances(only once during life time)

bull Monthly income of the beneficiary parent or guardian should not be more than RS25OOO- (Rs 300 Lakhpa) from all sources Family income inciudes income of parenVguardian

bull A Scholarship holder under this scheme will not avail any other scholarship stipend for pursuing the course

2 Scholarship Scheme (National Fund)-

bull Under this scheme 500 Scholarships will be awarded to eligible students with disabilities for pursuinghigher academicprofessional or technical qualification J -

Applicant has to apply online (wwwnhfdcnicin) for scholarship from 01072014 to 31082014 andscholarship shali be awarded once in a academic year under this scheme

Scholarship of RSl000-pm for hostellers and Rs700pm for day scholars studyinginprofessionalcourses at graduation and above level and RS700-pm for hostellers and Rs400-pm for day scholarspursuing DiplomaCertificate level professional courses Course fee reimbursed upto ceiling of RSl0000per year

bull Financial assistance can be ghen for computer with editing software for blinddeaf graduate and postgradUate students pursuing professional courses and for support access software for cerebral palsystudents

bull Monthly income of the beneficiaryparent or guardian should not be more than RS15OOO - (Rs 180 Lakhpa) from all sources Family income includes income of parenVguardian

bull Scholarship holder under this scheme will not concurrently hold any other scholarshipstipend

SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME II - FOR 2000 DIFFERENTLY ABLED STUDENTS(To be funded out of Trust Fund for Empowerment of Persons wIth DisabilitIes)

1 Objective

11 The objective of the Scheme is to provide financial assistance to the differently-a bled students toenable them to pursue professional or technical courses from recognized institutes and getempl oyed sel f-employed

12 Differently-abled students face several barriers physical financial psychological mental in pursuingstudies and living with dignity At times such students are deprived of harnessing their latent skills andthereby miss the opportunity to earn their livelihood and find a dignified place for themselves in thesociety This scheme envisages encouraging differently-a bled students by providing scholarships andother assistance to pursue professional or technical courses and various skill development courses fortheir empowerment

2 Number of Scholarships

21 To start with every year 2000 scholarships will be provided to the differently-abled students throughoutthe country 30 scholarships will be reserved for girls which will be transferable to male students in caseof non-availability of female candidates

3 ScopeI

31 These scholarships will be available for studies in India by all differently-abled students who arecovered under the Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunity Protection of Rights and Full Participation)Act 1995 and the National Trust for the Welfare of Persons with Autism Cerebral Palsy Mental Retardation

4-Rateof Scholarship and other benefits under the scheme

(i) Non-refundable fees shall be fully awarded in case of GovernmenVGovernment-aidedinstitution In case of private Institutes the reimbursement would be restricted to similarcourses in GovernmenVGovernment-aided institutions

(ii) Maintenance allowance will be paid to the students for a period of 10 months only in oneacademic year at following rates

bullV ~gtlti)- Financial assistance will be given to pursue degree andor post graduatelevel technical iJprofessional courses from a recognized institution Maintenance bookstationary allowanand grant for purchase of assistive devices will be credited to the students account Nrefundable fees shall be reimbursed to the student on production of proof of deposit of feeswill be paid directly to the Institute under intimation to the student

ii) Scholarship will be awarded for only one course at a time

iii) Students who get admission to a college to pursue technicalprofessional courses on the baof a competitive examination will be eligible for the scholarship without any considerationpercentage of marks at higher secondarygraduation level

iv) Students who get admission in technicalprofessional courses without facing any competitiexamination will also be eligible for scholarship However such students should have not Iethan 50 marks at higher secondarygraduation level Selection of these students will be dostrictly on merit basis

v) Students who pursue their education through correspondence would also be eligible for tscholarship

Continuation of the scholarship in subsequent years will be automatic subject to successfulcompletion of the course during the preceding year However grace period of one year shall beadmissible for the entire course in specified categories

A candidate who is awarded scholarship for one course after its completion will be eligible foranother course too However the awardees will not be eligible for a similar or equivalent course

A scholarship holder under this Scheme will not avail any other scholarshipstipend for pursuingt1ecourse

ix) The annual income of the beneficiaryparent or guardian of beneficiary should not exceedRS300 lakh from all sources However preference shall be given to economically weakerstudents

52 Other Conditions for the Scholarship

i) The scholarship is depended on the satisfactory progress and conduct of the scholar If it isreported by the head of the Institution at any time that a scholar has by reasons of hisher ownact of default failed to make satisfactory progress or has been guilty of misconduct such asresorting to or participating in strikes irregularity in attendance without the permission of theauthorities concerned etc the authority sanctioning the scholarship may either cancel thescholarship or stop or withhold further payment for such period as it may think fit

If a student is found to have obtained a scholarship by false statement hisher scholarship willbe cancelled forthwith and the amount of the scholarship paid will be recovered The studentconcerned will be blacklisted and debarred for scholarship in any scheme forever

A scllOlarship awarded may be cancelled if the scholar changes the subject of the course ofstudy for which the scholarship was originally awarded or changes the Institution of studywithout prior approval of the Government The amount already paid may also be recovered atthe discretion of the Government

A scholar is liable to refund the scholarship amount at the discretion of the Government ifduring the course of the year the studies for which the scholarship has been awarded isdiscontinued by himher

Scholarship will not be paid for the period of internshiphouserTlanshirhntheMSSS course or gt- -~ ~ ~~ for a practical training in any course if the student is in receiptoUomeremuneration during the

internship period or some allowancestipend during thepractical training in any course l bullbullt ~4 J-~bull

The conditions can be changed at anytime at the discretion of the Government of India

6 Publicity of the Scheme

61 The Scheme will be given wide publicity over print and electronic media Assistance of StateGovernments and other agencies such as UGC Universities and prominent colleges and institutions willalso be sought in giving publicity to the Scheme

7 Procedure for application

72 Renewalof the scholarship is automatic in next year subject to successful completion of tho ourse inthe previous year However in case of students with cerebral palsy mental retardation mental Illnessmultiple disabilities and profound server hearing impairment one year grace period may be allowed

73 Alongwith the application the following enclosureswill have to be furnished

(i) Academic record - attested copies of relevant certificatesmark sheets for thequalifying examination

(ii) Proof of annual income Proof of income shall include last salary slip ofparentguardian acknowledgement of income taxincome certificate issued fromRevenue officialGazetted officerPublic representative eg MP MLA MLCPanchayat officials etc

8 Processing of applications

(a) The procedure for processingof applications will be outsourced to a reputed agency

(b) All the applications will be processed in a time bound manner

(c) The applications scrutinized by the authorized agency shall be placed before a screeningcommittee periodically for final award of scholarships

I Eligiuility -

(1) Financial assistance will be available to Indian students with at least 40disabilities certified as per definition under Persons with Disabilities Act 1995

(2) Financial assistance will be given for pursuing Post-MatricPost-Secondarytechnical and professional courses including PhD amp MPhil from recognizedinstitutions However for students with disabilities of Cerebral Palsy MentalRetardation Multiple Disabilities and Profound or Severe Hearing Impaired theminimum educational qualification will be class VIII pass and scholarship will beawarded to them for pursuing general technical vocational or professionalcourses

(3) Scholarship will be awarded to one student for pursuing only one course

(4) Financial assistance can be given for computer with editing software for blinddeaf graduate and postgraduate students pursuing professional courses and forsupport access software for cerebral palsied students

(5) ContinuationRenewal of the award for next year will depend on successfullycompleting the course in the preceding year with minimum 45 (forty five) percentmarks for professional courses and 40 for other courses

(6) The Assistance under this Scheme is not intended for Post-MatricPost SecondaryTechnicalfProfessional courses having duration ofless than one year

SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME II - FOR 2000 DIFFERENTLY ABLED STUDENTS(To be funded out of Trust Fund for Empowerment of Persons wIth DisabilitIes)

1 Objective

11 The objective of the Scheme is to provide financial assistance to the differently-a bled students toenable them to pursue professional or technical courses from recognized institutes and getempl oyed sel f-employed

12 Differently-abled students face several barriers physical financial psychological mental in pursuingstudies and living with dignity At times such students are deprived of harnessing their latent skills andthereby miss the opportunity to earn their livelihood and find a dignified place for themselves in thesociety This scheme envisages encouraging differently-a bled students by providing scholarships andother assistance to pursue professional or technical courses and various skill development courses fortheir empowerment

2 Number of Scholarships

21 To start with every year 2000 scholarships will be provided to the differently-abled students throughoutthe country 30 scholarships will be reserved for girls which will be transferable to male students in caseof non-availability of female candidates

3 ScopeI

31 These scholarships will be available for studies in India by all differently-abled students who arecovered under the Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunity Protection of Rights and Full Participation)Act 1995 and the National Trust for the Welfare of Persons with Autism Cerebral Palsy Mental Retardation

iii) Students who get admission to a college to pursue technicalprofessional courses on the baof a competitive examination will be eligible for the scholarship without any considerationpercentage of marks at higher secondarygraduation level

iv) Students who get admission in technicalprofessional courses without facing any competitiexamination will also be eligible for scholarship However such students should have not Iethan 50 marks at higher secondarygraduation level Selection of these students will be dostrictly on merit basis

v) Students who pursue their education through correspondence would also be eligible for tscholarship

Continuation of the scholarship in subsequent years will be automatic subject to successfulcompletion of the course during the preceding year However grace period of one year shall beadmissible for the entire course in specified categories

ix) The annual income of the beneficiaryparent or guardian of beneficiary should not exceedRS300 lakh from all sources However preference shall be given to economically weakerstudents

52 Other Conditions for the Scholarship

i) The scholarship is depended on the satisfactory progress and conduct of the scholar If it isreported by the head of the Institution at any time that a scholar has by reasons of hisher ownact of default failed to make satisfactory progress or has been guilty of misconduct such asresorting to or participating in strikes irregularity in attendance without the permission of theauthorities concerned etc the authority sanctioning the scholarship may either cancel thescholarship or stop or withhold further payment for such period as it may think fit

If a student is found to have obtained a scholarship by false statement hisher scholarship willbe cancelled forthwith and the amount of the scholarship paid will be recovered The studentconcerned will be blacklisted and debarred for scholarship in any scheme forever

A scllOlarship awarded may be cancelled if the scholar changes the subject of the course ofstudy for which the scholarship was originally awarded or changes the Institution of studywithout prior approval of the Government The amount already paid may also be recovered atthe discretion of the Government

A scholar is liable to refund the scholarship amount at the discretion of the Government ifduring the course of the year the studies for which the scholarship has been awarded isdiscontinued by himher

Scholarship will not be paid for the period of internshiphouserTlanshirhntheMSSS course or gt- -~ ~ ~~ for a practical training in any course if the student is in receiptoUomeremuneration during the

internship period or some allowancestipend during thepractical training in any course l bullbullt ~4 J-~bull

The conditions can be changed at anytime at the discretion of the Government of India

6 Publicity of the Scheme

61 The Scheme will be given wide publicity over print and electronic media Assistance of StateGovernments and other agencies such as UGC Universities and prominent colleges and institutions willalso be sought in giving publicity to the Scheme

7 Procedure for application

71 Application in enclosed prescribed format shall be submitted at any time during an academic year tothe assigned agency (ie National Handicapped Finance and Development Corporation Red Cross ShawanSector-12 Faridabad Haryana - 121007) An advance copy of the application should also be submittedonline (NHFDCwebsite - wwwnhfdcnicin) Each applicant shall be given a registration number on receiptof the application The screening committee shall examine these applications quarterly and the scholarshipamount will be disbursed

72 Renewalof the scholarship is automatic in next year subject to successful completion of tho ourse inthe previous year However in case of students with cerebral palsy mental retardation mental Illnessmultiple disabilities and profound server hearing impairment one year grace period may be allowed

73 Alongwith the application the following enclosureswill have to be furnished

(i) Academic record - attested copies of relevant certificatesmark sheets for thequalifying examination

(ii) Proof of annual income Proof of income shall include last salary slip ofparentguardian acknowledgement of income taxincome certificate issued fromRevenue officialGazetted officerPublic representative eg MP MLA MLCPanchayat officials etc

(iii) Disability certificate

(iv) Course fee receipt if any duly paid during the academic session

(vi) In case of continuation of scholarship in a succeeding year a copy of the -nark sheetof the preceding year

8 Processing of applications

(a) The procedure for processingof applications will be outsourced to a reputed agency

(b) All the applications will be processed in a time bound manner

(c) The applications scrutinized by the authorized agency shall be placed before a screeningcommittee periodically for final award of scholarships

(1) Financial assistance will be available to Indian students with at least 40disabilities certified as per definition under Persons with Disabilities Act 1995

(2) Financial assistance will be given for pursuing Post-MatricPost-Secondarytechnical and professional courses including PhD amp MPhil from recognizedinstitutions However for students with disabilities of Cerebral Palsy MentalRetardation Multiple Disabilities and Profound or Severe Hearing Impaired theminimum educational qualification will be class VIII pass and scholarship will beawarded to them for pursuing general technical vocational or professionalcourses

(3) Scholarship will be awarded to one student for pursuing only one course

(4) Financial assistance can be given for computer with editing software for blinddeaf graduate and postgraduate students pursuing professional courses and forsupport access software for cerebral palsied students

(5) ContinuationRenewal of the award for next year will depend on successfullycompleting the course in the preceding year with minimum 45 (forty five) percentmarks for professional courses and 40 for other courses

(6) The Assistance under this Scheme is not intended for Post-MatricPost SecondaryTechnicalfProfessional courses having duration ofless than one year

1 Objective

11 The objective of the Scheme is to provide financial assistance to the differently-a bled students toenable them to pursue professional or technical courses from recognized institutes and getempl oyed sel f-employed

12 Differently-abled students face several barriers physical financial psychological mental in pursuingstudies and living with dignity At times such students are deprived of harnessing their latent skills andthereby miss the opportunity to earn their livelihood and find a dignified place for themselves in thesociety This scheme envisages encouraging differently-a bled students by providing scholarships andother assistance to pursue professional or technical courses and various skill development courses fortheir empowerment

2 Number of Scholarships

21 To start with every year 2000 scholarships will be provided to the differently-abled students throughoutthe country 30 scholarships will be reserved for girls which will be transferable to male students in caseof non-availability of female candidates

3 ScopeI

31 These scholarships will be available for studies in India by all differently-abled students who arecovered under the Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunity Protection of Rights and Full Participation)Act 1995 and the National Trust for the Welfare of Persons with Autism Cerebral Palsy Mental Retardation

iv) Students who get admission in technicalprofessional courses without facing any competitiexamination will also be eligible for scholarship However such students should have not Iethan 50 marks at higher secondarygraduation level Selection of these students will be dostrictly on merit basis

v) Students who pursue their education through correspondence would also be eligible for tscholarship

52 Other Conditions for the Scholarship

i) The scholarship is depended on the satisfactory progress and conduct of the scholar If it isreported by the head of the Institution at any time that a scholar has by reasons of hisher ownact of default failed to make satisfactory progress or has been guilty of misconduct such asresorting to or participating in strikes irregularity in attendance without the permission of theauthorities concerned etc the authority sanctioning the scholarship may either cancel thescholarship or stop or withhold further payment for such period as it may think fit

If a student is found to have obtained a scholarship by false statement hisher scholarship willbe cancelled forthwith and the amount of the scholarship paid will be recovered The studentconcerned will be blacklisted and debarred for scholarship in any scheme forever

A scllOlarship awarded may be cancelled if the scholar changes the subject of the course ofstudy for which the scholarship was originally awarded or changes the Institution of studywithout prior approval of the Government The amount already paid may also be recovered atthe discretion of the Government

A scholar is liable to refund the scholarship amount at the discretion of the Government ifduring the course of the year the studies for which the scholarship has been awarded isdiscontinued by himher

7 Procedure for application

71 Application in enclosed prescribed format shall be submitted at any time during an academic year tothe assigned agency (ie National Handicapped Finance and Development Corporation Red Cross ShawanSector-12 Faridabad Haryana - 121007) An advance copy of the application should also be submittedonline (NHFDCwebsite - wwwnhfdcnicin) Each applicant shall be given a registration number on receiptof the application The screening committee shall examine these applications quarterly and the scholarshipamount will be disbursed

72 Renewalof the scholarship is automatic in next year subject to successful completion of tho ourse inthe previous year However in case of students with cerebral palsy mental retardation mental Illnessmultiple disabilities and profound server hearing impairment one year grace period may be allowed

8 Processing of applications

(a) The procedure for processingof applications will be outsourced to a reputed agency

(b) All the applications will be processed in a time bound manner

(c) The applications scrutinized by the authorized agency shall be placed before a screeningcommittee periodically for final award of scholarships

(5) ContinuationRenewal of the award for next year will depend on successfullycompleting the course in the preceding year with minimum 45 (forty five) percentmarks for professional courses and 40 for other courses

(6) The Assistance under this Scheme is not intended for Post-MatricPost SecondaryTechnicalfProfessional courses having duration ofless than one year

1 Objective

11 The objective of the Scheme is to provide financial assistance to the differently-a bled students toenable them to pursue professional or technical courses from recognized institutes and getempl oyed sel f-employed

12 Differently-abled students face several barriers physical financial psychological mental in pursuingstudies and living with dignity At times such students are deprived of harnessing their latent skills andthereby miss the opportunity to earn their livelihood and find a dignified place for themselves in thesociety This scheme envisages encouraging differently-a bled students by providing scholarships andother assistance to pursue professional or technical courses and various skill development courses fortheir empowerment

2 Number of Scholarships

21 To start with every year 2000 scholarships will be provided to the differently-abled students throughoutthe country 30 scholarships will be reserved for girls which will be transferable to male students in caseof non-availability of female candidates

3 ScopeI

31 These scholarships will be available for studies in India by all differently-abled students who arecovered under the Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunity Protection of Rights and Full Participation)Act 1995 and the National Trust for the Welfare of Persons with Autism Cerebral Palsy Mental Retardation

iv) Students who get admission in technicalprofessional courses without facing any competitiexamination will also be eligible for scholarship However such students should have not Iethan 50 marks at higher secondarygraduation level Selection of these students will be dostrictly on merit basis

v) Students who pursue their education through correspondence would also be eligible for tscholarship

8 Processing of applications

SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME II - FOR 2000 DIFFERENTLY ABLED STUDENTS(To be funded out of Trust Fund for Empowerment of Persons wIth DisabilitIes)

1 Objective

11 The objective of the Scheme is to provide financial assistance to the differently-a bled students toenable them to pursue professional or technical courses from recognized institutes and getempl oyed sel f-employed

12 Differently-abled students face several barriers physical financial psychological mental in pursuingstudies and living with dignity At times such students are deprived of harnessing their latent skills andthereby miss the opportunity to earn their livelihood and find a dignified place for themselves in thesociety This scheme envisages encouraging differently-a bled students by providing scholarships andother assistance to pursue professional or technical courses and various skill development courses fortheir empowerment

2 Number of Scholarships

21 To start with every year 2000 scholarships will be provided to the differently-abled students throughoutthe country 30 scholarships will be reserved for girls which will be transferable to male students in caseof non-availability of female candidates

3 ScopeI

31 These scholarships will be available for studies in India by all differently-abled students who arecovered under the Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunity Protection of Rights and Full Participation)Act 1995 and the National Trust for the Welfare of Persons with Autism Cerebral Palsy Mental Retardation

ii) Scholarship will be awarded for only one course at a time

iii) Students who get admission to a college to pursue technicalprofessional courses on the baof a competitive examination will be eligible for the scholarship without any considerationpercentage of marks at higher secondarygraduation level

iv) Students who get admission in technicalprofessional courses without facing any competitiexamination will also be eligible for scholarship However such students should have not Iethan 50 marks at higher secondarygraduation level Selection of these students will be dostrictly on merit basis

v) Students who pursue their education through correspondence would also be eligible for tscholarship

Continuation of the scholarship in subsequent years will be automatic subject to successfulcompletion of the course during the preceding year However grace period of one year shall beadmissible for the entire course in specified categories

A candidate who is awarded scholarship for one course after its completion will be eligible foranother course too However the awardees will not be eligible for a similar or equivalent course

A scholarship holder under this Scheme will not avail any other scholarshipstipend for pursuingt1ecourse

ix) The annual income of the beneficiaryparent or guardian of beneficiary should not exceedRS300 lakh from all sources However preference shall be given to economically weakerstudents

52 Other Conditions for the Scholarship

i) The scholarship is depended on the satisfactory progress and conduct of the scholar If it isreported by the head of the Institution at any time that a scholar has by reasons of hisher ownact of default failed to make satisfactory progress or has been guilty of misconduct such asresorting to or participating in strikes irregularity in attendance without the permission of theauthorities concerned etc the authority sanctioning the scholarship may either cancel thescholarship or stop or withhold further payment for such period as it may think fit

If a student is found to have obtained a scholarship by false statement hisher scholarship willbe cancelled forthwith and the amount of the scholarship paid will be recovered The studentconcerned will be blacklisted and debarred for scholarship in any scheme forever

A scllOlarship awarded may be cancelled if the scholar changes the subject of the course ofstudy for which the scholarship was originally awarded or changes the Institution of studywithout prior approval of the Government The amount already paid may also be recovered atthe discretion of the Government

A scholar is liable to refund the scholarship amount at the discretion of the Government ifduring the course of the year the studies for which the scholarship has been awarded isdiscontinued by himher

Scholarship will not be paid for the period of internshiphouserTlanshirhntheMSSS course or gt- -~ ~ ~~ for a practical training in any course if the student is in receiptoUomeremuneration during the

internship period or some allowancestipend during thepractical training in any course l bullbullt ~4 J-~bull

The conditions can be changed at anytime at the discretion of the Government of India

6 Publicity of the Scheme

61 The Scheme will be given wide publicity over print and electronic media Assistance of StateGovernments and other agencies such as UGC Universities and prominent colleges and institutions willalso be sought in giving publicity to the Scheme

7 Procedure for application

71 Application in enclosed prescribed format shall be submitted at any time during an academic year tothe assigned agency (ie National Handicapped Finance and Development Corporation Red Cross ShawanSector-12 Faridabad Haryana - 121007) An advance copy of the application should also be submittedonline (NHFDCwebsite - wwwnhfdcnicin) Each applicant shall be given a registration number on receiptof the application The screening committee shall examine these applications quarterly and the scholarshipamount will be disbursed

SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME II - FOR 2000 DIFFERENTLY ABLED STUDENTS(To be funded out of Trust Fund for Empowerment of Persons wIth DisabilitIes)

1 Objective

11 The objective of the Scheme is to provide financial assistance to the differently-a bled students toenable them to pursue professional or technical courses from recognized institutes and getempl oyed sel f-employed

12 Differently-abled students face several barriers physical financial psychological mental in pursuingstudies and living with dignity At times such students are deprived of harnessing their latent skills andthereby miss the opportunity to earn their livelihood and find a dignified place for themselves in thesociety This scheme envisages encouraging differently-a bled students by providing scholarships andother assistance to pursue professional or technical courses and various skill development courses fortheir empowerment

2 Number of Scholarships

21 To start with every year 2000 scholarships will be provided to the differently-abled students throughoutthe country 30 scholarships will be reserved for girls which will be transferable to male students in caseof non-availability of female candidates

3 ScopeI

31 These scholarships will be available for studies in India by all differently-abled students who arecovered under the Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunity Protection of Rights and Full Participation)Act 1995 and the National Trust for the Welfare of Persons with Autism Cerebral Palsy Mental Retardation

iii) Students who get admission to a college to pursue technicalprofessional courses on the baof a competitive examination will be eligible for the scholarship without any considerationpercentage of marks at higher secondarygraduation level

iv) Students who get admission in technicalprofessional courses without facing any competitiexamination will also be eligible for scholarship However such students should have not Iethan 50 marks at higher secondarygraduation level Selection of these students will be dostrictly on merit basis

v) Students who pursue their education through correspondence would also be eligible for tscholarship

Continuation of the scholarship in subsequent years will be automatic subject to successfulcompletion of the course during the preceding year However grace period of one year shall beadmissible for the entire course in specified categories

A candidate who is awarded scholarship for one course after its completion will be eligible foranother course too However the awardees will not be eligible for a similar or equivalent course

A scholarship holder under this Scheme will not avail any other scholarshipstipend for pursuingt1ecourse

ix) The annual income of the beneficiaryparent or guardian of beneficiary should not exceedRS300 lakh from all sources However preference shall be given to economically weakerstudents

52 Other Conditions for the Scholarship

i) The scholarship is depended on the satisfactory progress and conduct of the scholar If it isreported by the head of the Institution at any time that a scholar has by reasons of hisher ownact of default failed to make satisfactory progress or has been guilty of misconduct such asresorting to or participating in strikes irregularity in attendance without the permission of theauthorities concerned etc the authority sanctioning the scholarship may either cancel thescholarship or stop or withhold further payment for such period as it may think fit

If a student is found to have obtained a scholarship by false statement hisher scholarship willbe cancelled forthwith and the amount of the scholarship paid will be recovered The studentconcerned will be blacklisted and debarred for scholarship in any scheme forever

A scllOlarship awarded may be cancelled if the scholar changes the subject of the course ofstudy for which the scholarship was originally awarded or changes the Institution of studywithout prior approval of the Government The amount already paid may also be recovered atthe discretion of the Government

A scholar is liable to refund the scholarship amount at the discretion of the Government ifduring the course of the year the studies for which the scholarship has been awarded isdiscontinued by himher

Scholarship will not be paid for the period of internshiphouserTlanshirhntheMSSS course or gt- -~ ~ ~~ for a practical training in any course if the student is in receiptoUomeremuneration during the

7 Procedure for application

71 Application in enclosed prescribed format shall be submitted at any time during an academic year tothe assigned agency (ie National Handicapped Finance and Development Corporation Red Cross ShawanSector-12 Faridabad Haryana - 121007) An advance copy of the application should also be submittedonline (NHFDCwebsite - wwwnhfdcnicin) Each applicant shall be given a registration number on receiptof the application The screening committee shall examine these applications quarterly and the scholarshipamount will be disbursed

Continuation of the scholarship in subsequent years will be automatic subject to successfulcompletion of the course during the preceding year However grace period of one year shall beadmissible for the entire course in specified categories

A candidate who is awarded scholarship for one course after its completion will be eligible foranother course too However the awardees will not be eligible for a similar or equivalent course

A scholarship holder under this Scheme will not avail any other scholarshipstipend for pursuingt1ecourse

ix) The annual income of the beneficiaryparent or guardian of beneficiary should not exceedRS300 lakh from all sources However preference shall be given to economically weakerstudents

52 Other Conditions for the Scholarship

i) The scholarship is depended on the satisfactory progress and conduct of the scholar If it isreported by the head of the Institution at any time that a scholar has by reasons of hisher ownact of default failed to make satisfactory progress or has been guilty of misconduct such asresorting to or participating in strikes irregularity in attendance without the permission of theauthorities concerned etc the authority sanctioning the scholarship may either cancel thescholarship or stop or withhold further payment for such period as it may think fit

If a student is found to have obtained a scholarship by false statement hisher scholarship willbe cancelled forthwith and the amount of the scholarship paid will be recovered The studentconcerned will be blacklisted and debarred for scholarship in any scheme forever

A scllOlarship awarded may be cancelled if the scholar changes the subject of the course ofstudy for which the scholarship was originally awarded or changes the Institution of studywithout prior approval of the Government The amount already paid may also be recovered atthe discretion of the Government

A scholar is liable to refund the scholarship amount at the discretion of the Government ifduring the course of the year the studies for which the scholarship has been awarded isdiscontinued by himher

Scholarship will not be paid for the period of internshiphouserTlanshirhntheMSSS course or gt- -~ ~ ~~ for a practical training in any course if the student is in receiptoUomeremuneration during the

internship period or some allowancestipend during thepractical training in any course l bullbullt ~4 J-~bull

The conditions can be changed at anytime at the discretion of the Government of India

6 Publicity of the Scheme

61 The Scheme will be given wide publicity over print and electronic media Assistance of StateGovernments and other agencies such as UGC Universities and prominent colleges and institutions willalso be sought in giving publicity to the Scheme

7 Procedure for application

71 Application in enclosed prescribed format shall be submitted at any time during an academic year tothe assigned agency (ie National Handicapped Finance and Development Corporation Red Cross ShawanSector-12 Faridabad Haryana - 121007) An advance copy of the application should also be submittedonline (NHFDCwebsite - wwwnhfdcnicin) Each applicant shall be given a registration number on receiptof the application The screening committee shall examine these applications quarterly and the scholarshipamount will be disbursed
