I was blessed to be raised in a strong Christian family and have attended the Baptist Church my whole life. I accepted Jesus as my savior when I was 7 years old and was also baptized at that time. In later years, when I was in my 20's, I attended a local city revival and heard an Evangelist say that if you could not remember your day and hour of your salvation you should question your salvation. Unfortunately, I could not remember that far back and that caused me to doubt my salvation. So, I again confessed Christ and went through baptism. For whatever reason, I found myself again doubting and went to Israel in 1984 and wanted a "stake in the ground." So, I asked another Evangelist that I traveled with to baptize me in the River Jordan and I have not doubted since. I was raised in a Christian family with 3 brothers and 1 sister, all of whom are strong Christians. I met my wife 47 years ago and we have been married almost 43 years. We have two children, Mike and Christi. Both are married and we have 5 beautiful grandchildren. Our son and his family live in Dallas, TX and our daughter lives in Virginia and works in DC. Our children both accepted the Lord very early in life and we homeschooled our children until high school where they attended BACS. Our son attended Texas A&M for both his Bachelors and Masters Degree in Finance and Accounting. Our daughter attended Mary-Hardin Baylor with a Bachelors Degree in Accounting and Univ. of Texas at Arlington for her MBA. I was baptized at Forest Oaks Baptist Church in Houston at 7 years old. Then from elementary to high school I attended Queens Road Baptist Church. In College, I attended Nassau Bay Baptist, then my parents helped to start University Baptist. After marriage, Barb and I attended Sagemont Baptist Church for 8 years. We then helped start a mission work in Southshore Harbor as Southshore Baptist Church. Southshore changed its name to Faith Fellowship and we served in that church for 15 years. We finally came to Bay Area Church in 1999 when our children were involved in the youth group and attended BACS. I have been involved in various roles at the church. I have been a Life Group Leader/Teacher for Adults and Director, a Deacon, Chairman of the Deacons 2 years. I have served on the Pastor Accountability team (acting elder), the Pulpit Search Committee, the By-Laws Committee Faith Trainer - Witness Team, the Personnel Committee, Trustee Board and Forward Initiative Ad-Hoc Committee. I am in complete agreement with the doctrinal statement, mission, vision, and values of Bay Area Church. We glorify God by making disciples, equipping families, and serving the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I believe in our Statement of Faith completely as stated in our Exhibit A of our Bylaws of BAFBC.

Unfortunately, I could not remember that far back and that caused me to

doubt my salvation.

Soon after marriage my desire was to be a good husband and someday a father and I thought that going to church would do that for me. My wife, Tina, and I started attending church and I thought things from there ought to go great for us. However, after a couple of months of attending, while listening to a sermon based on Ephesians 2:8, I realized that I was trying to earn

favor with God and even get in to heaven by my good works. The verse declares it is not by works but by grace we are saved through faith. That day in August of 1986 I trusted Jesus as my savior and no longer had to wonder how good is good enough. Afterwards, I was concerned for my family’s salvation because they all believed that good works earned them an eternity in Heaven. God used Tina and me to share the gospel and supporting scripture with my family, seeing them all trust Jesus as their Savior through the years. I am so glad God used His people and His scripture to give me and my family eternal life!

I’ve been married to my wife, Tina, for 30 years. We have two adult daughters and two grandchildren. Our daughter, Casie Rampy, is married to Carson Rampy and together they have two sons, Michael and Judson. Our daughter, Taylor Stringer, is married to Ben Stringer. My mother-in-law is Gwen Ethel O’Rourke.

I attended West End Baptist in Galveston TX for one year and have attended Bay Area Church for almost 30 years. At Bay Area, I have served by teaching different ages of children, youth and adults, assisted with evangelism efforts, serving as a deacon for 25 years, serving on several committees including more than 10 years on the BACS committee, and helped for more than 20 years with Bethlehem City construction. I am an active LifeGroup member, prayer partner and baptism helper. I am in complete agreement with the doctrinal statement and the mission, vision and values of Bay Area Church.

Growing up, I attended First Baptist Church in Nacogdoches, TX. My family was and is still active in the church there. During a revival at our church, I became aware that just going to church does not make you a Christian. I felt the Lord leading me to the understanding that I was a sinner and that the only way to be saved was to accept that Jesus had died for my sins and

that I needed a personal relationship with Him in order to be saved. At the conclusion of one of the evening revival services, I went forward during the invitation and accepted Christ as my Savior shortly before my 10th birthday. The church then counseled me and several others that made decisions during the revival through several Sunday night discipleship classes before baptizing us at a later date.

I have been married to Leigh Ann Whitman for 23 years. We have 2 daughters - Abby (19) and Jenna (16). I have attended First Baptist Church Nacogdoches, Nassau Bay Baptist Church, and Bay Area Church. I’ve been a member of Bay Area Church for 13 years. At Bay Area, I have served as a Deacon, Chairman of the Personnel Committee, on various search committees, Youth LifeGroup leader, World Changers mission trip chaperon, door greeter, Bethlehem City (set up, clean up, and characters), Blessing the Bay Area, and at times you may find me helping in the “crawlers” room of the nursery. I am in complete agreement with the doctrinal statement and the mission, vision, and values of Bay Area Church.

I was blessed to be born into a family of Christ followers, both on my mother’s and father’s sides of the family. I attended Almeda Baptist Church from the time I was in the nursery until I was 9 years old when my family moved in 1974. In the months after the move, the trauma of being taken away from friends and family helped me to understand the concept of a loving God who

would never leave me. For a time I was bitter, frustrated, and angry in our new home, but slowly began to realize not only were my feelings and actions not fair to my parents, they were sins against God. After talking with my dad one afternoon, we made the trip to our new pastor’s office at First Baptist Church of Pearland where, on my knees, I confessed my sins and asked Christ to be my personal Lord and Savior. I have never doubted that decision I made as a 10 year old boy. God has been so good to me and has protected and guided me over the course of my life. My prayer today as it has always been is that I would serve him well, that I would live a life that would be pleasing to Him, and would bring him the honor and glory he deserves.

I have been married to my wife, Julie Pyburn, for 28 years. We have one son and one daughter, Luke and Layne, who both attend Texas A&M.

I have attended Almeda Baptist Church (now Southview Baptist Church), First Baptist Church Pearland, First Baptist Church College Station, Lakeview Baptist Church – Waco, South Park Baptist Church – Alvin, and Heights Baptist Church – Alvin. I’ve been a member of Bay Area Church for 12 years. At Bay Area, I have served on the Choir and Praise Team, Personnel Committee, Sr. Deacon team, Pastor Search Committee – chair, Head of School Search Team – chair, Ad-Hoc committees (BACS shared cost, facilities master plan, Forward Initiative financing plan), have been a Life Group director, Forward Initiative co-chair, Israel trip facilitator and Deacon. I have participated in Blessing the Bay Area and Breaking Free. I am in complete agreement with the Bay Area Church doctrinal statement as stated in the by-laws and am in line with its mission, vision, and values.
