A V0|UlTl61Ii'lC calibrated weir isa portable flow measuring devicethat is used to determine infiltrationin newly installed sewer lines, ormeasure substantial flows inexisting lines.

The Thel-Mar volumetricweir is basically a compound weirthat incorporates the advantage ofa 90° v-notch for measuring smallinfiltration flow where accuracy is ofprime importance. The v-notchsection measures from 57 gallonsto 3700 gallons per 24 hours, whichis the range of normal acceptancetest requirements. The rectangularsection of the weir is capable ofmeasuring in gallons per day up to35% of pipe capacity.

A bubble |6V9| is mounted at the top of the weir's faceplate for easy visibility. Thel-Mar weirs are calibrated in U.S.gallons per 24 hours in large, easy to read type. Calibrationlines are in 2 millimeter increments.

Discharge calibrations for the Volumetric Weir wereaccurately determined in a hydraulic laboratory wheremanhole conditions were duplicated. Therefore, there are noinduced errors by insufficient drop of the nappe or bycontractions, velocity of approach, submergency, ordrawdown.

Rugged Construction and noncorroding materialsmake the Thel-Mar weir extremely reliable. There are noloose parts that require assembly. lnstallation is quick andpositive and the weir requires a minimum of care.

Easy to read flow rate ‘Simply check water level at the face plate. The figure abovethe line matching the water level gives you the rate of flow ingallons per 24 hours.

A compound Weir offers minimum restriction to flow and isrelatively free from becoming clogged by debris from sewage.Thel-Mar Weirs can be installed for extended periods of timewithout accumulation of sediment.

Errors in excess of 100% exist in othercalibrated V-notch weirs.Unlike the Thel-Mar weir these were calibrated by the Coneformula.

Bubbler Flow MetersEspecially designed for use with Bubbler Flow meters, allVolumetric Weirs are now available with an attached “BubblerTube”. These weirs are manufactured with a %3-ll'lCi’l O.D. stainlesssteel tube attached to the right side of the adjustable ring. Thebubbler tube protrudes forward approximately two inches fromnear the top of the ring for easy connection to a line. It runs for theredown the inside of the ring to the center bottom approximately 1%-inch behind and below the V-notch. This bubbler tube does not inany way affect the function of the Volumetric Weir.

lnstallation InstructionsPrior to installation, the interioredge of the incoming pipe shouldbe cleaned of sediment and foreignmatterto assure seal of the gasket.

Turn thumb-wheel to extreme right.Place hand through weir opening, with thumb and index fingercompress spring. Insert weir intoincoming pipe about 1”, adjust forleveling, press down and releasetension from spring. Secure byturning thumb-wheel to left andfingertighten.

Allow sufficient time for water toback up behind the weir andestablish a uniform flow; five to tenminutes for existing flow to an hourfor accurate infiltration readings...-. .. ..,.,_._._..,..._.,_._._..,._._.,,._., ._ . ._ .. .... ..,., .t-_ - .» -. .. - .. .t, .tt.;,.-= ...i.»..-—4.~-—_.~.--.»-.».-».--

15” Weir with adaptor installed in 24” pipeIndividual Volumetric Weirs areavailable for 6”, 8", 10”, 12”, 14”, 15”and 16” pipe. The 14” weir uses a 12”face plate, while the 16” weir uses a15” face plate. Adaptors for 18”, 21”, 824”, 27”, 30”, 36", 42” and 48” pipe areused in conjunction with the 15” weir.

Volumetric Weirs are also availablein sets.Set A consists of 6”, 8”, 10”, 12” and15” weirs with an 18” adaptor

without a storage case-.

Set B is the same as set A, but hasBubbler Tubes Attached to the weirs.

Set C consists of 21” through 48"adaptors without a storage cas_e.

Adaptors are availableindividually or in sets. . —?-?
