READ THE DOCUMENTS

Collections of RPG files — i.e. shares, archives, troves, repos, etc. — are listed in the documents called Da Archive, Da Curated Archive, and Da Annex. Start with Da Curated Archive. "Cu-rated" means "attended to." That means someone is taking the time to keep a given collection orga-nized and current.

HOW TO USE THE LINKS

That link is obfuscated as simplified 1337 $p3@k. The best practice is:

1. Obfuscate the domain name (for example): r3br@nd<dot>ly

2. Put the rest of the URL on the next line: /ShareThread

Note that it isn't necessary to go overboard masking your links. A(@), E(3), S($), .<dot>, usually suffice. But a lot of people put it all on one line like I did above. You’ll need to de-obfuscate it. Make sure you haven’t added any spaces (there shouldn’t be any) and pay attention to capital letters. Even when it comes to letters size matters, Brave Hero.

Other Share linksSome links will start off /r/ like /r/theinnertemple. That’s not reddit, that’svolafile.org.Other times people might post “in the temple” or just “/theinnertemple”. They are often volas or rebrands but read the documents to find out what they mean. The Vola list is in Da Archive An-nex.

HOW TO SEARCH

Use Ctrl-F or Cmd-F. This is all simple stuff Brave Hero, but you won’t believe how many dumbarses come in here asking stupid questions. I mean, you didn’t have to be told to use Ctrl-F or usesensible search terms, but some people do.

How to search inside Da Archive documentsAgain, start with Da Curated Archive for organized shares. If you want to find Dungeons and Dragons it would pay to look for “Dragon”, as well as the short forms “D&D”, “DnD” and the publishers “TSR” and “WotC” or “Wizards”. You might several things called “dragon” that aren’t D&D but at least you should find everything that is D&D. If you want solo game book “Fighting Fantasy” it might pay to look for “game book” or “gamebook” as well as “Fighting”. If you want the space game “Traveller”, try looking for “sci fi” too.

Important: If you are trying to search a document from within your web browser's document reader, scroll to the bottom of the document before searching.

How to search inside the SharesDigging is part of the fun. An individual Shares' organization is self-evident once you look around. Some might have Directory files. Most don't. Figure it out.

HOW TO SHARE

Upload your file to a file sharing site. Make sure your file is clean. Unless you made the PDFyourself it’s probably watermarked. Post your link to the share thread. Obfuscate your link a littlebit. But not too much Hero. I don’t want to waste our time trying to decipher it.

How to scan booksThere are many websites that will tell you how to scan books. You can look those up yourself.

You may be able to email cityofcarse<at>gmail.com to contribute a physical book forscanning if you don’t want to scan it yourself. Carse will treat your book with delicacy and personal information with discretion.

How to clean filesIf you don’t know how, there are some who will clean it for you. Please, only send it to one cleaner. Here are a few:

Try IRC.

If you use mIRC, you're going to have to gointo your options and turn off the option thatdenies a whole bunch of file formats, as well asthe check box that turns them on again after acouple of minutes. HexChat does not have thisissue.
