8 BELi\IONT TOWN REPORT

HONOR ROLL OF VETERANS

Belmont residents who served their country in World WarII are deserving of the recognition their fellow-townspeople cangive to them on this page of the Annual Town Report of 1948.

One of the assets of the town of Belmont is its large numberof young people attending schools and residing here in ourtown. We hope that many of them will want to make theirfuture homes here.

In World 'vVar II a large number of our young people leftour community to serve in the armed services of our country. Many of these veterans have returned to live here, and thesewith many others who now live here will play a large part inshaping the future of this town. Weare depending upon themfor our future leaders.

Belmont is proud of its men and women who did their partin the services of the last war and especially we owe a great debtof gratitude and honor to those who made the greatest sacrificeman can make for his fellow citizens. They gave their lives thatwe might continue to live here and conduct our affairs in thedemocratic way of self government.

Let us all continue to honor them by striving to make ourtown an even better one in which to live, a town which may indeed be judged worthy of the sacrifice which they have made.
