THEMES unite the design and materials. THEMES aid in learner retention. And, it is okay to have fun!
THEME it right to unify everything
![Page 4: I am an accidental trainer-Design](https://reader036.vdocuments.site/reader036/viewer/2022070302/5482315db079592e0c8b4721/html5/thumbnails/4.jpg)
“Typography is the art and technique of arranging type in order to make the language it forms most appealing to transparent learning and recognition.”
FONTS are part of the design.
![Page 5: I am an accidental trainer-Design](https://reader036.vdocuments.site/reader036/viewer/2022070302/5482315db079592e0c8b4721/html5/thumbnails/5.jpg)
“In traditional typography, a FONT is a particular size, weight and style of a typeface. Each font was a matched set of metal type, one piece ("sort") for each glyph, and a typeface comprised a range of fonts that shared an overall design.”

Traditional FONTS are best, especially for viewing on screen. Print too.

![Page 9: I am an accidental trainer-Design](https://reader036.vdocuments.site/reader036/viewer/2022070302/5482315db079592e0c8b4721/html5/thumbnails/9.jpg)
Keep your design smart and simple by using only 1 or 2 different FONTS.
![Page 10: I am an accidental trainer-Design](https://reader036.vdocuments.site/reader036/viewer/2022070302/5482315db079592e0c8b4721/html5/thumbnails/10.jpg)
Use only 1 or 2 FONT styles. Regular + Italic – OR – Regular + Bold.
![Page 11: I am an accidental trainer-Design](https://reader036.vdocuments.site/reader036/viewer/2022070302/5482315db079592e0c8b4721/html5/thumbnails/11.jpg)
Use 1-2 FONT sizes. Maximum.
![Page 12: I am an accidental trainer-Design](https://reader036.vdocuments.site/reader036/viewer/2022070302/5482315db079592e0c8b4721/html5/thumbnails/12.jpg)
FONT = “size matters”. Keep your materials readable. Remember, not too small.
![Page 13: I am an accidental trainer-Design](https://reader036.vdocuments.site/reader036/viewer/2022070302/5482315db079592e0c8b4721/html5/thumbnails/13.jpg)
Use COLOR to draw attention. And evoke emotion.
![Page 14: I am an accidental trainer-Design](https://reader036.vdocuments.site/reader036/viewer/2022070302/5482315db079592e0c8b4721/html5/thumbnails/14.jpg)
Use COLOR to enhance, not distract. Less is often more.
![Page 15: I am an accidental trainer-Design](https://reader036.vdocuments.site/reader036/viewer/2022070302/5482315db079592e0c8b4721/html5/thumbnails/15.jpg)
Spot COLOR draws learners’ eyes to an area on the page. Spot color should harmonize with overall theme.
![Page 16: I am an accidental trainer-Design](https://reader036.vdocuments.site/reader036/viewer/2022070302/5482315db079592e0c8b4721/html5/thumbnails/16.jpg)
RED is best used as an accent. Avoid using red text, as it is difficult for many to read.
