I am a good dog, why can’t I find my forever family?

Bella just wants to give you kisses… even though she had spent her life on a chain before Southside saved her.

Harvey has been at the shelter several years, mostly overlooked because he has bully breed mix in his genes.

Pogo was taken to the pound because her old owners did not teach me manners…is that fair?

Why doesn’t someone want to sponsor specialized training for Cosmo so he can get his forever home?

Do I look scary to you? I’m not trying to.

It’s not my fault I have a bone infection that makes my face “ugly”.

I’m a beautiful and sweet dog on the inside and that’s what matters… or so I’m told.

Guinness had surgery to remove the bony growth, but he may not be out of the woods. Infection is still there.

I can’t help that I’m now a 3-legged pup, but that should not deter families from adopting me, right?

I am so sad that no one wants to adopt me, what’s wrong with me?

I keep looking for my new family to adopt me…but I keep waiting…

A day spent at adoptions can be exhausting…

Charlie continues to wait for his forever home also.

Aren’t I cute and adoptable? Trixie was cute and won the hearts of a couple.

Love at first sight, this boy will take me home,… I just know it. This little dog was right. She was adopted by this boy and his mother. Another lucky dog.

Oscar may have a wild coat, but a family saw the prince underneath the fur and welcomed him into their family.

Cassie and Harvey just want a family to take them home.

A sponsor for Asia can help the shelter with medical costs for her thyroid condition.

These two pups are too young to be thrown out like trash…and end up in a shelter. They were lucky to be taken in by a shelter. Millions of pups and dogs are euthanized each year because of overpopulation.

Freeway was found wandering the highway…until she was saved and brought to the shelter.

Her fur was in terrible shape, but its growing back.

People overlook Scooter because he is a terrier or because he has a leg deformity. I think he’s a handsome fellah!

Years of neglect and abuse left King’s fur and skin in terrible condition.

Daphne is a smart and good looking gal, why did she end up in a shelter?

Why do people overlook so many good beagles that need homes?

We deserve forever homes too!

We like belly rubs and snuggling just like other dogs.

And we love on each other…

And can be silly too!

But mostly we just want to find our forever home.

This shelter is not the place for Teagan. She was a lucky dog who found her forever family.

This is Patsy.She can sit pretty, isn’t she a good girl…?

And she walks on a leash well… why is she still looking for her forever family?

After a year at the shelter, Gunner is still scared to meet new people, but he wants to find a family to call his own.

Sophie was lucky enough to be a fostered dog.

Dempsey, a 3-legged dog, has not been affected by the loss of his leg. He’s an out-going, fun loving and playful guy!

Princess, another bully mix has been over looked for years.

Miss Piggy has also spent years at the shelter.

Hector’s life was spent on a chain before the shelter saved him. Luckily he still trusts humans and still wants to be loved by them.

So how can you help?

Spay and Neuter your pets. Think about adopting a homeless pet. Consider volunteering or donating to your local shelter. They ALL need our help to get the pets to their

forever family.

Until they all have a home….

Don’t buy from breeders Preventative care and medication can save you some money

on medical costs.

Questions you should consider before adopting a new pet - age of the pet, temperament and energy level, breed type/mix (do your research), if the pet needs to be an only pet or have “siblings”, known medical conditions that you will or will not accept in a new pet- such as amputee, thyroid condition, murmurs, arthritis, physical deformity etc.

Consider carefully before adding a pet to your family. It should be a lifetime commitment, not just a birthday or Christmas gift.
