Hypochondria (main definition)Hypochondria can be defined as having a an

excessive preoccupation or worry about having any illness or a serious illness. In simpler terms, it means obsessing over whether you have a disease at the current moment and which disease it is.

Page 4: Hypochondriasis

Many hypochondriacs try to keep themselves away from things that can make them sick and try to stay indoors as much as possible. Thus the cartoon with food scattered everywhere and the tea/tissues.

Page 5: Hypochondriasis

Many hypochondriacs feel the need to pre-opt their chances at getting any diseases and fall into scammer plots such as these candle that will “help” with all and every problem.

Page 6: Hypochondriasis

Hypochondriacs “jump” from disorder to disorder trying to find what exactly they have, even if they might not even be sick at all. Such as the picture shows, the man has already been checked for hepatitis and is moving onto the flu. Plus all the other islands shows how many diseases he believes he has.

Page 7: Hypochondriasis

Hypochondriacs are always worried and stressed, such as the girl to the left. Especially when they find a new “symptom.”

They are also very prone to visiting/calling their doctors A LOT.

Page 8: Hypochondriasis

Books such as these are targeted directly at hypochondriacs and how they overreact to everything (as noted above, blushes, small pain, trembling).

Page 9: Hypochondriasis

Because of all the time worrying about different diseases and illnesses, hypochondriacs are prone to anxiety and depression disorders.

Many hypochondriacs will go overboard when trying to find a doctor. Such as the man in the sarcastic cartoon, even after death, many will still want a physician nearby to make sure they stay “healthy.”

Page 12: Hypochondriasis

Many hypochondriacs though are still looking for one “cure-all” pill that they can take to avoid taking all of the pills they normally take. As this pill does not exist yet, the hypochondriacs will continue to worry and stress.

Page 13: Hypochondriasis

Products such as these are made for hypochondriacs and some others. Not only is the keyboard flexible (used for other purposes), it is also washable. Many hypochondriacs will buy expensive products such as this one in order to maintain a “healthy” life style.

Page 14: Hypochondriasis

Hypochondriacs will do everything possible to try and avoid infections such as this one. They will also try to avoid many different types of illnesses.

Page 15: Hypochondriasis

The many pills a hypochondriac may take. Even if they take a new pill each day, hypochondriacs will try to do most things (depends on how obsessed they are) to avoid illnesses.

Page 16: Hypochondriasis

Hypochondriasis can affect everyone. It also affects different parts of our lives as shown to the left. The girl is thinking about the different diseases and possible illnesses she can receive DURING school which can affect her social and educational life.

Page 17: Hypochondriasis

Many hypochondriacs disbelieve their doctors and always go for 2nd and even 3rd opinions. Some will believe they have a disease so much, that it is a new and rare disease, as shown in the ironic comic above.

Page 18: Hypochondriasis

This cartoon shows when a hypochondriac finally overcomes their disease, even if they don’t realize it is a good thing.

Page 19: Hypochondriasis

Some hypochondriacs are relieved to find that they actually have a disease, even if it’s not always good news. They believe that as long as it’s known, they have a chance.
