DEVICE DISTRIBUTIONProcedures Any Freshmen, New Student, or Returning Student without an assigned PWCS Laptop

can stop by the school during our Technology Distribution Week taking place on Monday, August 9th - Friday, August 13th from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. for delivery.

Laptops will be distributed by the Student’s Last Name Alpha as follows: Monday (August 9th) - Friday (August 13th)

DEVICE DISTRIBUTIONProcedures

Each students will receive one HP laptop, charging cable, and soft case.

Students will log into their laptop with their individual password during this delivery session. We will also provide assistance and support to our students with lost or forgotten passwords during this delivery.

In addition, we will also distribute laptops the first few days of school to any student who was unable to pickup a laptop during our Technology Distribution Week.

PWCS OVERVIEW

• Return to “normal” pre-pandemic operations.• There will be no minimum physical distancing

requirements.• COVID-19 vaccinations are not required for students.• Visit pwcs.edu/immunizations for other

immunizations required for students.• Indoor masking required for all in most situations

when students present.

2021-22 OVERVIEW• Hylton’s 30 Year Renovation 2021-2023• Breakfast and lunch for students provided at no-cost.• Students will eat in the commons following pre-

pandemic capacity.• Buses will run at full capacity.• August 17 - Transportation bus schedules released

(tentative).• August 18 - Elementary schedules published

2021-22 OVERVIEW• All students provided laptops by/on first day, free at-home

internet available for any student with need.• Low-cost optional insurance will be available to families

for student laptop damage/loss.• Canvas will be used by all students (both in-person and

virtual).• The Hub (ParentVUE/StudentVUE) will continue to be used

by all students.• Families will complete new school year packet (forms such

as emergency card) online via The Hub.

MASK REQUIREMENTS

State law SB1303 requires schools to follow CDC guidance to the extent possible.• Maintaining a layer of mitigation for staff and students when

physical distancing is not possible.• Significantly reducing potential disruption to the educational

environment caused by student quarantines.• Providing time for vaccines to become available at all ages and for

more students to receive vaccinations.• Reducing potential impacts to staffing due to employee illness or

quarantine.• Aligns to CDC, VDOE/Virginia Department of Health Interim

Guidance for Prevention in Virginia PreK-12 Schools.

• Virtual-only high school students will be served via combination of Virtual Virginia (first), Virtual Prince William (second), and their local base school.

• Concurrent will not be used except in very limited circumstances.

• Proximity Learning will be used for some self-contained special education classes and to meet the needs of English learners.

• Virtual choices are limited and some classes are not offered (such as hands-on CTE, pre-advanced classes).

• Base high schools remain responsible for student support services (e.g., EL classes, IEP related services, counseling, computers).

• Students who ride a bus to school must wear a mask.

• Bus routes are published via pwcs.edu the week before school starts.

• First week of school – staff are available in the bus loop to assist all students.

• First several days we hold buses in PM to ensure we have left no one behind!

• Morning Drop Offs & Afternoon Pickups are Very congested. Please Allow Extra Time, Follow Directions, and Be Patient.

• We have identified students who need support in all grade levels.

• Reaching out shortly to ensure they receive support they need to remain on target for graduation, beginning with 12th grade.– Academic support programs:

• Recover / Replace graduation requirements not met in previous year.

• Provide support / tutoring for those who struggle.• Transportation and other support provided.

• AP Scores across the nation were not up to standard in 20-21.– Hylton provided Saturday support for AP classes.

• FREE and Open to every AP student in PWCS. More info to come.– Program will likely be in person for all students enrolled in

AP course.
