The recent health crisis is putting pressure on businesses to ensure that strict hygienic protocols are

followed, in order to reduce the likelihood of spreading viruses and bad bacteria. As a response to

our clients’ new needs to improve their hygienic processes, Postwink is looking beyond recycling,

to provide our clients a new range of solutions.

Below are our tips to consider to improve your likelihood of health within your office environment:

HAND SANITATION: for all individuals coming into and out of your building, effective and safe sanitization

should be mandatory and implemented in such a way that it is hygienic and convenient.

INCREASING THE FREQUENCY OF YOUR CLEANING REGIME: whether this is outsourced or your staff

contribute to your company’s cleaning task, the reality is that all hard and soft surfaces must be thoroughly

cleaned daily – perhaps multiple times daily. From desks and tables and kitchen surfaces, to laptops and

phones. Ensure you have a well communicated strategy in terms of how often, and what, must be cleaned daily.

BETTER DISPOSAL BINS: waste separation and recycling should definitely continue and be promoted

internally. In actual fact, awareness and education around what goes into a bin should possibly increase

within your company; in order for staff to understand that some items that could pause contamination risks

(like disposable gloves) should not be included in the Plastic compartment of your recycling bin. Furthermore,

try to use bins that have holes on the top (instead of a flap), or that use a bin with a pedal system or a sensor

“touchless” technology to open.

CONSCIOUS EMPTYING OF BINS & WASTE MANAGEMENT: your cleaning team should ideally use gloves

to empty your office bins – and should be told where to store the content. Use clear bags for recycling,

but red-tinted bags for waste which can be considered biohazard waste, such as used face masks, disposable

gloves and other PPE (personal protective equipment) items.

SOCIAL DISTANCING: keeping 1.5m to 2m apart from one another is key to reducing the risk of new infection.

However, while speaking with colleagues, one may forget to keep to the right distances. Hence, think of your

various areas and how to use signage to remind staff to adhere to social distancing. Remember this applies

to staircases, queues in canteens as well as bathrooms. And if social distancing is physically difficult (like two

colleagues are sharing a desk area), make use of a screen (called Reception screens, or counter/desk screens).

COMMUNICATION COMMUNICATION COMMUNICATION: take every opportunity to use clear signage to

inform, motivate and remind your staff, customers and visitors about what is expected of them whilst in

your building.

REDUCE THE RISK BY PROMOTING NEW HABITS: for one, we must stop sharing our pens – ensure your

staff have their own stationery and avoid from sharing it with their colleagues (unless it is properly sanitized).

Furthermore, you can use foot mechanisms to open doors to avoid touching door handles. And of course,

wearing a cloth mask or face visor at all times should be one of the first habits to encourage.

CHECKING STAFF’S WELLNESS: whether you perform a daily health survey with your staff or take their

temperature as they enter the building, ensure that your staff know that their wellness is your primary concern.
