IN VIVO EFFICIENCY

1. Short-term effect on sebaceous glands and sebum

ACNACIDOL BG® (3%) in an emulsion was applied to the

forehead for one day and compared to a placebo.

Results demonstrate that within one hour, a single application of

ACNACIDOL BG® at 3% considerably decreases sebum

excretion associated with a significant reduction of active

sebaceous glands. This effect lasted for at least 6 hours.

2. Long-term effect on sebaceous glands and sebum

A double-blind clinical study was performed over 3 weeks on 12 volunteers with oily or mixed skins using ACNACIDOL BG® formulated at 3% against a placebo.ACNACIDOL BG® at 3% usage induces a consistent and long-term decrease of sebum. This effect is visible within the first week and reaches a maximum and continual effect after 2 weeks. A plateau effect is also observed illustrating that ACNACIDOL BG® does not induce dry skin in the long term.
