The Hydrobelt separator model HBK is a machine for effective and economical washing out of contaminants of lower specific weight with mineral cores such as grit, gravel, rubble etc.
Design and operation
The washing process takes place in a washing and sepa-rating bed made from a seamless rubber belt with trans-verse stability and vulcanised corrugated edges. The trough-shaped cross-section can be changed to suit the task by means of adjustable idlers. The belt is guided through a drive and a tension drum. It runs against the gradient. A driven tapping roller attached in the lower part of the washing bed length moves the washing bed during pulsation.
The contaminated granulates already displaced with wa-ter are moved over an adjustable out-feed chute of the separating and washing bed length along the direction of movement. Below the out-feed chute and above the

washing bed, there are individually adjustable sprink-lers that can be moved vertically and horizontally. These sprinklers have flat and round jet nozzles.
Supported by the powerful water jet of the nozzles, re-commended minimum water pressure 3 bar, the wash water flowing with the washing bed gradient and the converse friction of the belt on the material being moved together separate the contaminants by size.
In the pulsation area, the offset, heavy contaminants are again caught in the wash water flow and separated. Af-ter cleaned granulates are carried out through the high-er, continuous tension drum with adjustable speed, it is recommended to carry out a static or dynamic dewate-ring. The wash water can be used again after cleaning of the circulating water.

SPECIAL FEATURES OF TYPES HBS AND HBSE
Drive with variable speed gear motor or frequency-controlled
Shorter axial distance, flatter discharge angle (HBS)
Additional water flush pipe with flat profile spray nozzles for effective washing out of sand still adhering to the corrugated belt edges
The product sand is dewatered to an optimum content on a downline screen (HBS)
Galvanised design Longer axial distance, more acute discharge
angle (HBSE) Vibration plate located below the ascending
conveyor belt with low-wear Teflon coating compresses the sand (HBSE)
A downline heavy compression roll compacts the sand cake (HBSE)
Drive with variable speed gear motor (frequen-cy-controlled)
In-feed chute, out-feed chute and underflow trough with wear-proof rubber coating
HYDROBELT SEPARATOR MODELS HBS AND HBSE (DBP)= with pulsation
Contaminated sand is washed on the Hyrobelt separa-tor and freed from components of lower specific weights (e.g. wood, coal, other contaminants). Moreover, this process enables a specified separation of fine sand for producing sand conforming to standards. In addition, the Hydrobelt separator HBSE is equipped with a dewa-tering device, which dewaters the sand product to ob-tain a conveyable product.
Design and operation
The washing process in this Hyrobelt separator also takes place on a washing and separating bed made from a seamless rubber belt with transverse stability with vulcanised corrugated edges. The trough-shaped cross-section can be changed to suit the task by means of adjustable idlers. Against the direction of movement of the belt conveyor, the sand-water mixture is fed into the washing/separating bed of the Hydrobelt separator via a flushing chute.
Sizing and sorting with one machine
The sizing effect is based on the selective effect of sedi-mentation. Due to its high settling velocity, the coarse granulate moves downwards on the belt and is dischar-ged continuously from the separating zone against the direction of flow. The released water flows back into the washing bed at a lower level. Product is discharged over the variable speed drive drum equipped with a belt scraper. The fine granulates still dispersed in the liquid owing to the low settling velocity, flow against the direc-tion of the belt conveyor over the tension drum into the rubber-coated tub below.
The Hydrobelt separator is pivoted at the product di-scharge side. An electric fast-vertical adjustment enables a variable adjustment according to the different materi-als being moved in order to obtain quality sand. Depen-
ding on the respective adjustment of flow velocity, the stay-time of the individual particle in the suspension can be varied and the pore size can thus be changed. Simul-taneously, the sizing process is accompanied by a dense-medium separation, in which the sand content as well as the fine particle content act as medium solids. Compo-nents of lower specific weight suspended or floating in the suspension are also discharged with the wash water.
Optional equipment
The installation of a separating paddle – also in combi-nation with a subsequent sieve bend – enables a separa-tion of organic matter from the fine sand suspension. For special applications, spray pipes can be installed in the feed flush zone and for washing bed spray.
