Message from COOUrban expansion in India is occurring at lightning

speed. India has some of the world’s most populous

metropolitan areas.

Globally, a good amount of employment growth

and GDP growth are contributed by metropolises.

Those in emerging economies outperforming those in

advanced economies. Metropolitan areas concentrate

and accelerate wealth as these are agglomerations

of scale that concentrate higher-level economic

functions.

By 2030, India will have 71 metropolitan cities, of

which seven would have a population of more than

10 million. Clearly metropolises are going to be a key

feature of India’s urbanisation and will play a crucial

role in fuelling growth. Hyderabad is a forerunner

among these cities.

With tremendous growth in all fronts in the recent

decades, Hyderabad has gained huge momentum

and emerged as a global business city.

Hyderabad is fast securing its reputation as a modern global metropolis thanks to its all-round development.

Hyderabad, the capital city of Telangana, has diverse ecosystem including state-of-the-art infrastructure, human capital, pres-ence of corporate headquarters, global connectivity, commercial real estate to ca-ter to various industries, presence of repu-table academic institutions, technological advances, innovation and pleasant climatic conditions.

In 2017, Hyderabad was ranked the fifth most dynamic city in the world from among 134 cities assessed by global financial ser-vices firm JLL for its City Momentum Index (CMI). Hyderabad has also been ranked the best city in India in terms of quality of living by Mercer for the fifth year in a row in 2019. United Nations World Cities Re-port 2016 said Hyderabad will become a mega-city by 2030.

Presence of Large Corporations

Leading multinational giants like Google, Microsoft, IBM, Amazon, Facebook, Ap-ple, Deloitte, Schneider Electric, Capgem-ini, Novartis, Cognizant, Bank of America, Infosys, WIPRO, TCS and Tata Lockheed Martin Aerostructures have set up their offices and R&D facilities in Hyderabad. Google and Amazon have their biggest campuses outside of USA in Hyderabad. Amazon’s Hyderabad campus, has the big-gest employee base among all its campus-es. Ikea, the European giant in furniture and home appliances, has built their first store in India in Hyderabad in a large area of 4, 00,000 sq.ft.

T-Hub, Telangana Government’s start-up ecosystem funds tech incubation and ac-ademic partnerships with an ambition to create India’s Silicon Valley.

Infrastructure

Hyderabad is a hub for information tech-nology, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, agriculture, logistics, aerospace & de-fence engineering and medical sciences. Multiple new industrial zones are under construction to attract and accommodate more companies form the respective in-dustries. Business-friendly policies of the government and effective administration of the city are clearly increasing the ease of doing business in Hyderabad and at-tracting corporations across industries to start their operations in the city.

The city is undergoing a big boost to its roads infrastructure through the Govern-ment of Telangana and Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation’s Strategic Road Development Program. The program aims to construct 18 flyovers and 4 underpasses across Hyderabad for seamless traffic flow. Balanced development of physical and social infrastructure is essential for sustain-able growth of a city.

Social Infrastructure

Hyderabad is also home to reputable uni-versities and academic institutions like University of Hyderabad, Osmania Univer-sity, IIIT, IICT, NALSAR University of Law,

ISB and ANGRAU and creates a large tal-ent pool.

The state-run TSRTC connects Hyderabad with places in Telangana and India by bus services. The city is also well connected by local bus and taxi services.

In 2017, the local transportation is upgrad-ed with Hyderabad Metro Rail. Fully oper-ational Metro Rail services combined with the well-planned infrastructure across the city is adding comfort and convenience to commuters and visitors of Hyderabad.

Robust city bus service by Telangana State Road Transport Corporation and Multi Modal Train Service (MMTS) make com-muting throughout the city easy and com-fortable.

Hyderabad is a fascinating city with a host of attractions. Known as the City of Pearls, Hyderabad is home to bazaars, magnif-icent palaces, lakes, heritage buildings, arts & crafts centers, entertainment zones, parks, a large zoo and a dedicated dog park. Mr. KV Nagendra Prasad, COO, HITEX and current President of Indian Exhibition Industry Associa-tion has been honoured with the prestigious “Bob Dallmeyer Educator of the Year Award” for 2019 by world’s oldest and largest exhibition and events industry association - International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE), headquartered in Dallas, USA. The Bob Dallmey-er Educator of the Year Award is presented to members who outstand in promoting life-long learning in the exhibition industry.

Commending the achievement, Mr. David DuBois, President & CEO, IAEE, said “Your dedication to establishing and promoting IAEE’s CEM Learning Program® in India is an inspiration to our worldwide membership and serves as a shining example to our industry, as do your contributions to the formation of the IAEE India Chapter and your on-going work in growing the IAEE Women’s Leadership Forum in the region”.

The award was formally presented to Mr. Nagendra Prasad at Expo! Expo! - the world’s largest annual meeting & exhibition for the exhibitions & events industry, held from 3-5 December 2019 in Las Vegas, NV, USA.

The 2019 IAEE awardees were selected after careful consideration and review by the IAEE Awards Committee and approved by the IAEE Board of Directors. Mr. Prasad has been at the forefront of the educative initiative taken by the

Indian Exhibition Industry Association for knowl-edge dissemination in the exhibition industry in India. Under his mentorship, the association has successfully run the Certified in Exhibition Management™ (CEM) program for the past five years and has helped several professionals in the exhibition industry in honing their skills and empowering themselves in their said domain.

Expressing his views on receiving the award, Mr. Prasad said, “I see this award being given to the Indian exhibition industry for taking initiatives for furthering learning and adopting best global practices which will lead to the development of a strong exhibition industry in India”. A Mechanical Engineer and a post-graduate in Marketing Management and CEM (Certified in Exhibition Management) faculty from IAEE, USA, Mr. Prasad, flaunts a rich experience in the exhibition domain. He has more than two decades of experience in sales, marketing, business development and commercial operations in real estate, telecom, retail and trade fairs sectors.

Donning many hats as Director, IAEE, USA, President, IAEE India Chapter, Immediate Past President and Member of the Board, IEIA, Mr. Prasad participates actively in various national and international industry forums to promote India and Hyderabad as credible destinations for hosting trade fairs and exhibitions. Mr. Prasad's achieve-ments in attracting prestigious events and trade shows to HITEX and Hyderabad are highly laudable.
