Protected Weapon Station (Hatch) (PWS (H)) HUSKY Patrol (Utility) is fitted with the lighter PWS(H)(Stanag1,2or3-)armour.ItutilisesthesameslewingringandhatchasthePWS(SW)butisfittedwitha7.62mmGPMGGunMount.Should the situation arise, all armour panels and gunmountcanberemovedjustleavingthehatchwhichcanbeopenedto180degrees.
ManufacturedbyNavistarDefence, theHusky isaprotected medium-armouredhigh-mobility tacticalsupportvehicle(TSV)designedspecificallyfortheBritishArmy.Itisproducedinthreevariants–patrolvehicle,ambulanceandcommandpostvehicle.Thepatrolversionisequippedwithaflatbed,whilethecommandandambulancevariantshaveenclosedcabsattherear.
TheHuskyisbasedontheInternationalMXT-MVAmadebyNavistarDefencewithsignificantimpovements.Itwillcarryoutthesupportrolesinareaswhereheavyvehicles,likeMastiff,cannotbeused.DesignedtonavigateAfghanistan’sroughterrainandalsoperforminoff-roadconditions,HUSKYutilizesaspecially-designed,light-weightarmor,which is incorporated into thesurvivabilitysystem.TheUKHUSKYvariantutilisesasmallerbasewhichallowsHUSKYtoweighsignificantly lessthanthecompany’sMRAPunitsalsonowinservice inAfghanistan.
