A LOOK BACK AT LAST WEEKOU (8-0 overall, 3-0 MPSF) posted the highest score in the NCAA this season (359.450) en route to its victory over Minnesota (344.850) and the Texas All Star Team (310.650). Leading the Sooners was junior Steven Legendre, claiming his first all-around title of the season with a score of 89.500. The U. S. National Team member also took home individual event titles on floor (16.100) and parallel bars (14.900). OKLAHOMA vs. MINNESOTA, TEXAS INDIVIDUAL TITLESAll-Around: Jacob Dalton Floor Exercise: Steven Legendre Pommel Horse: Corey English Rings: Ian JacksonVault: Jacob DaltonParallel Bars: Steven Legendre FIRST TIME Freshman Jacob Dalton posted a 16.150 in his event title on vault last weekend, unveiling a Kasamatsu double full. Dalton is the only gymnasts in the United State that attempts the 17.0 start-value vault and it was the first time that the vault had been attempted in NCAA competition. The Reno, Nev., native is currently the top rated gymnast on vault with an average score of 16.167 and is also ranked No. 1 in the all-around. NO. 1 VS NO. 2 This weekend No. 1 Oklahoma takes on MPSF Conference foes No. 2 Stanford and No. 9 Nebraska on March 7 in Lincoln, Neb. Last season, the Sooners met the Cardinal in the regular season for a top-two showdown with OU finishing on top 357.850-356.400.

The OU women’s gymnastics team has also held the top spot in two different weeks this season. The No. 2 Sooner women returns to Norman for its most anticipated home meet in program history in a battle with No. 1 Alabama on Friday, March 5, at 7 p.m. BROOKS AT AMERICAN CUP This weekend, 2010 Winter Cup Challenge champion and OU volunteer assistant coach Chris Brooks of will join former University of Oklahoma teammate Jonathan Horton as the second American male competing in the 2010 Tyson American Cup.

The Tyson American Cup, one of the most prestigious all-around international invitational, features some of the world’s top gymnasts in an all-around format. The 2010 Tyson Ameri-can Cup will be LIVE on Universal Sports and NBC Sports. Check local listings. AGAINST THE TOP 10 OU has started the 2010 season 8-0, including a 3-0 mark against conference opponents. Five of OU’s six opponents have been ranked in the top 10. Last season, the Sooners went undefeated against their top 10 opponents in the regular season. FIVE ON NATIONAL TEAM Four-year letterwinner Chris Brooks won the 2010 Winter Cup all-around title and regained his position on the U.S. Senior National Team on Feb. 6. Overall, one third of the national team selections were from the University of Oklahoma men’s program as all five representa-tives sent to the event were selected following strong performances. Freshman Alex Naddour was the latest Sooner to be named to the team, while freshman Jacob Dalton and junior Steven Legendre and Olympian Jonathan Horton retained their positions on the team. The five Sooners, along with the other 10 members will comprise the U.S. team until the Visa Championships in August.

No other NCAA Division I men’s gymnastics program has more members on Senior National Team than Oklahoma and this is most National Team members that the Sooners have ever had, beating the previous total in 1994 (4).

It marks the first time this year that the Sooners have held the top spot after being ranked fourth in the preseason and as high as No. 2 the past two weeks. OU has been ranked No. 1 in each of the last six seasons and in eight out of Mark Williams’ 10 years at the helm. HOLDING THEIR OWN This week’s ranking marks the first week that OU has held the top spot. The Sooners began the year ranked No. 4 in the preseason and held the number two spot last week. AN ALL-AROUND TEAM This season OU has been ranked in the top three in the nation on all six events while holding the top spot on three events (floor, vault, parallel bars). Individually, the Sooners have been the top-ranked gymnast on four events. (Floor: Legendre, Pommel Horse: Alex Naddour, Vault: Dalton, All-Around: Dalton) CONFERENCE LEADERSOklahoma is currently ranked in the top three on four separate events (floor, pommel horse, rings, high bar). The only other team in the MPSF to be ranked in top-three on multiple events is Stanford (4).

ONE TOUGH CONFERENCE The MPSF Conference has consistently been the top-ranked conference in the NCAA the past 10 years. This season seems to be no different with three teams holding the top ranking in four of the six events (OKLAHOMA, Stanford and California).

The Oklahoma men’s gymnastics team began the 2010 cam-paign with a victory at the Rocky Mountain Open claiming the meet championship for the 11th consecutive year.

The third-ranked Sooners scored a 347.400 in Colorado Springs, Colo., to win the collegiate portion of the competi-tion, while Jacob Dalton claimed his first all-around title as a Sooner with a score of 87.500.

The Sooner also claimed four team event finals on floor (60.000), pommel horse (56.950), vault (63.950) and parallel bars (57.500).

The Sooners claimed five individual event titles on the night with the help of Dalton winning vault (16.250), parallel bars (14.900) and high bar (14.800) and Steven Legendre winning floor (15.950). Freshman Alex Naddour also claimed his first event title as a Sooner posting a score of 15.200 on pommel horse.

OKLAHOMA AT IOWA | JAN. 23, 2010 OU, (W): 349.500-340.950 The fourth-ranked Oklahoma men’s gymnastics team claimed its second straight victory of the 2010 season by winning all six events over No. 8 Iowa at the Main Field House in Iowa City, Iowa. The Sooners scored a 349.500 to beat the Hawkeyes (340.950) in their first meeting of the regular season.

The Sooners swept each of the team event on floor (59.550), pommel horse (55.300), rings (58.150), vault (60.950), parallel bars (58.100) and high bar (57.450).

Oklahoma was also able to sweep the team portion with the help of freshman Jacob Dalton winning his second straight all-around with a score of 89.600. Dalton won his first all-around title last week at the Rocky Mountain Open.

The meet was highlighted by Dalton winning individual titles on floor (15.750), vault (16.000), rings (15.000) and parallel bars (15.050). Alex Naddour took his second straight pommel horse title of the season with a score of 15.000.

Steven Legendre rounded out the afternoon by claiming the high bar title with a score of 14.700. OKLAHOMA VS. TEXAS | JAN. 30, 2010 CANCELLED Due to winter storm conditions affecting the Oklahoma area, the men’s gymnastics meet on Saturday, Jan. 30 between No. 4 OU and the Texas club team has been cancelled.

The Sooners and Longhorns were scheduled to compete tomorrow night at 7 p.m. (CST) inside the Howard McCasland Field House.

“Cleveland Elementary Night” will be rescheduled to a later date.

OKLAHOMA VS. NEBRASKA | FEB. 13, 2010OU, (W): 356.500-335.450

OU (6-0 overall, 3-0 MPSF) posted its highest team total of the season (356.500) en route to its second victory over the Huskers (335.450) in 2010.

The meet was highlighted by freshman Alex Naddour break-ing the school record on pommel horse with a 15.400, a mark he previously set earlier in the year (15.200), and junior Bobby Shortle setting a career high on vault with a 16.200.

The Sooners swept the team portion of the meet with wins on floor (60.850), pommel horse (57.850), rings (60.250), vault (63.800), parallel bars (56.000) and high bar (56.900).

OU (7-0 overall, 3-0 MPSF) posted its second highest team total of the season (354.450) en route to its victory over the Wolverines (354.000).

The Sooners claimed half of the six events in the team por-tion of the meet with wins on floor (61.050), vault (63.000) and parallel bars (57.450).

The meet was highlighted by Oklahoma taking four of the seven individual events with three different gymnasts winning titles, with Legendre claiming floor (15.900), junior Bobby Shortle claiming vault (16.100) and freshman Alex Naddour claiming parallel bars (14.650).

The second-ranked Oklahoma men’s gymnastics team defeated No. 6 Minnesota and the Texas All Star Team in Saturday’s “Cleveland Elementary Night” in front of 817 fans at the McCasland Field House.

OU (8-0 overall, 3-0 MPSF) posted the highest score in the NCAA this season (359.450) en route to its victory over Min-nesota (344.850) and the Texas All Star Team (310.650).

Leading the Sooners was junior Steven Legendre, claiming his first all-around title of the season with a score of 89.500. The U. S. National Team member also took home individual event titles on floor (16.100) and parallel bars (14.900).

Oklahoma senior Corey English was honored before the meet on “Senior Night” and posted a 14.700 in his pommel horse victory.

The Sooners swept all six team event titles for the third time this season with wins on floor (63.000), pommel horse (57.400), rings (59.400), vault (63.500), parallel bars (58.250) and high bar (57.900).

Freshman Jacob Dalton posted a 16.150 in his event title on vault, unveiling a Kasamatsu double full, while redshirt-junior Ian Jackson claimed his second title this season on rings with a score of 15.150.
