Important Information for Leaders and Members

Attention all 4-H Members! Did you know that you can take as many 4-H projects as you would like each

year, all for a single $100 membership fee? Plus, if you are registered in a different county but wish to join

a club in Huron, the “Border Hopper” fee is only $15! For more information on 4-H projects and clubs in

Huron County, please contact the Huron County Leaders’ Association. We want you to get the most out of

your 4-H experience!

The 2019 Huron County 4-H Membership fee will be $100.00. Please make all cheques payable to: Huron County 4-H Leaders’ Association.

If you are in financial need but would like to join, please contact the Association for assistance with the fee.

MEMBERSHIP FEE 2019

Re-engagement Training for Volunteers Do you need re-engagement training? Use the online resources (follow link below) and submit the ques-tionnaire for one of the sessions to update your volunteer training. Volunteers are required to have re-engagement training every 2 years and complete a back ground check every 3 years. https://docs.google.com/…/1FAIpQLSeXRHJJCrNEvZN9v7…/viewform

Volunteer Symposiums are also a key learning opportunity! The Region 5 Conference will be held March 6 at 6:00 p.m. in the Listowel Ag Hall. Contact [email protected] or 1-877-410-6748 x487 to register.

New Clubs/Projects in 2019

Hensall Lifeskills Club: Breakfast Bonanza (beginning in Febru-ary) and Grow Huron (beginning in Fall). Contact Mary Lynn Macdonald at 519-262-3123 for more information.

Belgrave Vet Club: Do you like animals? Thinking of becoming a veterinarian? Want to learn more about animal fitting? Join Belgrave Vet Club where we will go through different topics learning about animal healthcare. The club will be starting in May and ending in August and will be located around the Bel-grave area with possibilities of doing field trips throughout Hu-ron County. Please contact Shannon Bieman at

[email protected] to be put on the email list. More infor-mation will be emailed out when it becomes available.

Londesborough Lions 4-H Olde Time Square Dance Club: Wel-coming boys and girls aged 9-21. Beginning March 18th, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. in the Londesborough Lions Hall. Contact Dorothy Bogie at 519-440-6565 for details.

Thinking of starting a new club? Huron County 4-H Leaders' Associa-tion has put aside funding to give new clubs $50 to purchase re-sources and another $50 when the club is completed. Contact Shan-non Ritchie at [email protected] with your club details!

Upcoming Events in Huron County

Annual General Meeting: 7:00 p.m. on February 12, 2019 at the Londesborough Church (snow date, February 19)

Judging Competition: June 8, 2019 at the Seaforth Agriplex This is the event for testing your judging skills, with 6 different categories and a quiz to challenge your public speaking and reasoning!

Go For the Gold Competition: July 2019 Be sure to decide on your team of 4 or 5 members and start increasing your 4-H knowledge early! More de-tails will be available closer to the event.

Seaforth Fall Fair: September 14, 2019 at the Seaforth Fair Grounds Come out and support the dairy, beef, sheep, swine, and goat clubs as they show off their 4-H projects.

Awards Program: November 17, 2019 at the Seaforth Agriplex Not to be missed, this event is our chance to celebrate the amazing achievements and efforts of our mem-bers and volunteers!

Opportunities With 4-H Ontario

Provincial 4-H Leadership Camp: March 9-14, 2019 at Ontario Pioneer Camp, Port Sydney Are you a 4-H Member between the ages of 15-18 and want to develop leadership skills? If so, then this is the opportunity for you! This amazing experience offers members the chance to enhance their leadership, communication, and teamwork skills through hands-on activities. There are spots for a maximum of 80 par-ticipants, so be sure to register early!

Cost: $353.06 (including HST, with t-shirt) or $336.11 (including HST, no t-shirt)

Deadline to register: January 31, 2019

Dairy Sen$e Conference: May 2-4, 2019 at University of Guelph, Guelph If you are between the ages of 18-25 and have a passion for the dairy industry, this is your chance to ex-plore the business and management side of dairy farming! You will gain invaluable knowledge from guest speakers and some of Ontario’s most successful dairy farmers. A maximum of 45 participants will be ac-cepted (non-4-H members are welcomed).

Cost: $207.92 (including HST) which covers accommodations, meals, tour travel
