Hervey Bay. JUL/AUG 2019 There is no other place in the world that compares to the awe-inspiring, soul-stirring, up-close whale watching encounters that you will find in Hervey Bay. Between July and November, thousands of humpback whales travel the ‘Humpback Highway’ and arrive in the calm, protected waters of Hervey Bay. Unlike any other place along the ‘humpback highway’, the whales will stop and spend up to 10 days, resting, socialising and playing before continuing their trip back to the Antarctic for the summer months. This unique relationship gives reason to celebrate each year with the Hervey Bay Ocean Festival. It’s an eclectic event that recognises the importance of the ocean to Hervey Bay and promotes the conservation of the marine environment and animals that are unique and important to our region. The festival kicks off on July 27 and runs to August 4, with a calendar of colourful events that features the Fraser Coast Kite Karnival, Hervey Bay Seafood Festival, Whale Parade, Paddle Out for Whales, and loads more. There is no other place in the world that compares to the awe-inspiring, soul-stirring, up-close whale watching encounters that you will find in Hervey Bay.

RESORT NEWS

Around the grounds.J U LY / AU G E D IT I O N

Welcome to our new homeowners at Palm Lake Resort Hervey Bay. As this newsletter goes to print, we have a total of 371 homeowners living here at the resort. Our current statistics include 172 male homeowners and 199 female homeowners, with 41 of our households a sole-occupant dwelling.

Burgers & Bowls Open Day for Resale Homes

We would like to thank Dot Booth and the staff of the Palm Lake Resort Bargara Sales Centre for organising a great Open Day recently. It was a small, intimate affair and our guests gave very positive feedback. Having resident helpers on the day gave potential new homeowners an opportunity to ask those questions that only a resident would know the answer of. The burgers were delicious and bowls was a hoot! The entertainment was also up to the high standard we set at our Palm Lake Resorts. Without the help of our enthusiastic resident volunteers, this day would not have been such a success. Thank you to all.

...AND A LITTLE FURTHER AFIELD

It’s always great to see our Palm Lake Resort Hervey Bay residents getting together for outings in the resort bus. Such was the case recently when 65 residents enjoyed a tour of Bargara Brewery which was founded in 2014 and can be found at ‘The Brewhouse’ in Bundaberg (pictured below).

It was a great day. The variety of beer samples were enjoyed by most and the pizzas and coffees went down well, too. There was a presentation by Brewery CEO Jack Milbank and it was quite interesting finding out how a small boutique brewery makes such a wide variety of beers including Thirsty Turtle, Convict, Drunk Fish and Rusty Roo, to name a few. Our bus driver, Murray, entertained us with some jokes at the start of each drive and his ability to get into tight spaces was awesome! One of our residents, Ken, also had some novel poems to recite during the bus trip. On the way home we stopped at Mammino Gourmet Ice Cream near Childers for one of the best ice creams you will find in Queensland. It’s now compulsory to stop there if we are in the vicinity!
