Christs Humility and Greatness
Dont do anything from selfish ambition or from a cheap desire
to boast, but be humble toward one another, alwaysconsidering others better tha yourselves. And look out for oneanothers interests, not just for your own. The attitude youshould have is the one that Christ Jesus had: He always hadthe nature of God, but he did not think that by force he
should try to remain equal with God. Instead of this, of hisown free will he gave up all he had, and took the nature of aservant. He became like a human being and appeared inhuman likeness. He was humble and walked the path ofobedience all the way to death- his death on the cross. For this
reason, God raised him to the highest place above and gavehim the name that is greater than any other name. and so, inhonor of the name Jesus all beings in heaven, on earth, and inthe world below will fall ion their knees, and all will openlyproclaim that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God thefather. -Philippians 2: 3-11

It is God himself who has made us what we are and
given us new lives from Christ Jesus; and long agesago he planned that we should spend these lives in
helping others.
Ephesians 2:10
I glorified you on earth by completing down to the
last detail what you assigned me to do.

You were put on earth to make a contribution.
You werent created just to consume resources- toeat, breath and take up space. God designed youto make a difference with your life. While manybest-selling books offer advice on how to get
the most out of life, thats not the reason Godmade you. You were created to add to life onearth, not just take from it. God wants you togive something back. This Gods fourth purposefor your life, and it is called your ministry orservice.

You were created to serve God
The Bible says, God has created us for life of good
deeds, which he has already prepared for us to
do. These good deeds" are your service.
Whenever you serve others in any way, you are
actually serving God and fulfilling one of your
purposes.

You were saved to serve God.
The Bible says It is he who saved us and chose
us for his holy work, not because we deserved it
but because that was his plan. God redeemed
you so you could do his holy work. Youre notsaved by service, but you are saved for service.
We dont serve God out of guilt or fear or even
duty, but out of joy and deep gratitude for whathes done for us.

You are called to serve God
Growing up, you may have thought that being
called by God was something only
missionaries, pastors, nuns and other full time
church workers experienced, but the Bible says
every Christian is called to service. Your call to
salvation included you call to service. They are
the same. Regardless of your job or career, youare call to full-time Christian service.

You are commanded to serve God
Jesus was unmistakable. Your attitude must be like my own,for I, the messiah, did not come to be served , but to serveand give my life.
Serving is the opposite of our natural inclination. Most of the
time were more interested in serve us than service. Wesay, Im looking for a church that meets my needs andblesses me, not Im looking for a place to serve and be ablessing. We expect others to serve us, not vice versa. But
as we mature in Christ, the focus of our lives shouldincreasingly shift to living a life of service. The maturefollower of Jesus stops asking, Whos going to meet myneeds? and starts asking, Whose needs can I meet?

Preparing for Eternity
At the end of your life on earth you will stand before
God, and he is going to evaluate how well you served
others with you life.
At this point, all our excuses for self-centeredness willsound hollow: I was too busy or I had my own
goals or I was preoccupied with working, having fun,
or preparing for retirement. To all excuses God will
respond, Sorry, wrong answer. I created, saved andcalled you and commanded you to live life of service.

Service is the pathway to real significance. It is
through ministry that we discover the meaningof our lives. As we serve together in Gods
family, our lives take on eternal importance.
God wants to use you to make a difference in hisworld. He wants to work through you. What
matters is not the duration of your life, but the
donation of it. Not how long you lived, but how
you lived.
