Hygiene:

The word Hygiene originates from Greek language and means:

Preservation of health:

Hygiene is an old concept related to medicine, as well as to personal and professional care practices related to most aspects

of living. In medicine and in home hygiene practices are employed as preventative measures to reduce the incidence and spreading

of disease.


Bacteria: ▪ One celled micro-organisms, that can be found all over: in water, in air,

and our surroundings etc. ▪ Typical size between 0,2 µm and 50 µm. They can be spherical-, stick- or

spiral-formed.▪ Bacteria needs nutrient to be able to multiply.▪ Nutrients can come from carbon, light, nutrients content in water etc..▪ Some bacteria can double in 20 minutes under optimal conditions.

Hazards caused by biofilms: Contamination of water in the humidifier and the air

▪ Micro-organisms settle down on wet surfaces and over time start building biofilms. After a few days they may enter the stationary phase where germs leave the biofilm continuously
