Humans NOT For Sale

By: Candace Maria, Marjorie Teocson and Nicole Woolsey

Human Trafficking In China

Causes of Human Trafficking

• Gender Imbalance– Boys outnumber girls– Needed for brides and females arise

• One-Child Policy– With this policy, along with the ideal that boys are “worth” more

than girls, unwanted females are sent into prostitution– The undesired female babies many times are given away or sold

to baby smugglers.

Effects of Human Trafficking

• Prostitution– Because of the One Child Policy children are either aborted,

abandoned, or sold.– Many babies are sold into prostitution when they get older.

• Baby Trafficking– Southwest China there is a street called Chicken Street where it

is used to sell babies ranging in different prices.– Young baby girls are sold for $25 and boys could be sold for the

double the price.– Birth mothers see this as their lively hood.– Babies are sold to pay off debt.

Why should you care?

• A mother worries about her child that was taken from her when he was just 5 ½ years old.
