➤➤➤ Process descriptionGrit acceptance and feedThe suction/pressure trucks discharge the raw materialinto a tank or directly into the intermediate storage tankof the HUBER system from where the integrated screwconveyor transports the material on a continuous basisinto the wash drum.

Coarse material washing and separationWithin the ROTAMAT® Wash Drum the inlet material ishomogenised by adding wash water with solids < 10 mmwashed out. Coarse material > 10 mm is staticallydewatered and can be additionally separated into amineral and organic fraction as an option.

Grit classifying and washingThe mixture of grit, organics and water (particles < 10 mm)is removed from a pump sump situated below the WashDrum and fed into the COANDA Grit Washing Plant. TheCOANDA Grit Washing Plant which is the main part of thegrit treatment system is where the mineral material isseparated from the organic particles by means of theCOANDA effect and other physical principles. The mineralparticles (grit and gravel < 10 mm grain size) with a losson ignition < 3% are statically dewatered within a screwconveyor and can then be reused or landfilled.

Treatment of circulating waterThe total effluent from the COANDA Grit Washing Plantand optional coarse material washer is then fed into theROTAMAT® Rotary Drum Fine Screen where all organicparticles > 1 mm are screened out and dewatered(DR > 30%). The screened wastewater quality is ofsufficient quality to be used as part of the flow forservice water for the ROTAMAT® Wash Drum, but requiresadditional treatment if to be used as service water forother components.

➤➤➤ Wash water recyclingIn order to obtain clean wastewater that can be returnedinto the process, precipitants and coagulant agents areadded and mixed in by a flocculator. The fine mineralmaterial settles within the subsequent sedimentationtank and is pumped to an intermediate sludge storagetank.The clear water flows into the HUBER Dissolved AirFlotation Plant HDF where any still present fine material isremoved and the clarified wastewater is then dischargedinto a service water storage tank. The flotate andsediment from the flotation plant are also pumped intothe intermediate sludge storage tank which feeds theROTAMAT® Screw Press RoS 3.

➤➤➤ Sludge dewateringTo reduce the sludge volume and weight the separatedsludge from the storage tank is dewatered in theROTAMAT® Screw Press RoS 3 that achieves dry substancecontents in excess of 50 %.
