Euclid™ Type PBC / WPBC / XPBC PendantPushbutton Stations

ApplicationPBC cam-operated pushbuttonsare engineered for all heavy-duty applications that require ut-most reliability and the combi-nation of single and multi-speedperformance such as crane andmill drives.

DescriptionThe Plungers are one-piecemolded high impact phenolic.The button surface is concavefor easy thumb operation. In theassembly, the plunger is pro-tected by steel mountingrib sections and therecessed shape of the frontcover. Plungers are mechani-cally interlocked.

Return Springs — Two extra-long, low-stress, corrosionproof springs are provided foreach plunger. They are engi-neered for maximum depend-ability, safety and ease ofplunger operation.

Cam Plates are molded of self-lubricating Nylatron® GS andhave a series of openings to al-low the movable contacts toclose in sequence against thestationary contacts. Cam platesare keyed to the operatingplungers. Desired operatingsequences can be obtained byinserting the proper cam plate.

The Contact Blocks, to whichthe stationary and movable con-tacts and terminals are as-sembled, are compressionmolded from fiberglass polyes-ter material. This material ishighly resistant to shock, arcingand tracking.

The heavy-butt-type silverStationary Contacts and termi-nals are riveted to the contactblock.

The Movable Contact Bar withits silver contact-buttons is fas-tened to the contact blockby a post and silver coatedberyllium copper ContactSpring arrangement. Thesilver-to-silver alignment pro-vides unusually long contactlife. A slight wiping actionof the movable contact pro-motes self-cleaning and opti-mum conductivity.

The contact block assembly iseasily replaced as a unit.

ApplicationPBC pushbutton stations aredesigned for all heavy-duty ap-plications that require the com-bination of single and multi-speed units and operation withspecial contact sequencing.

DescriptionThe enclosure’s front plate andend cups are die formed fromheavy gauge steel and weldedinto an unbreakable unit. Theprotective plunger guards areintegral to the front plate. Thedouble suspension cablehanger and threaded conduitfitting are an integral part of thetop cap.

The front plate is designed toprovide a bearing surface forthe pushbutton plungers and atrough for the control wires.

The “U” shaped access cover,which serves as the sides andback of the enclosure, ismolded of high strength fiber-glass and is easily removed forinspection or maintenance ofthe pushbutton inserts. Interiorassemblies may be inspectedand contact block assembliesare easily replaced. Interior as-semblies consist of overlappingmounting rib sections to whichthe contact blocks are attached.Each unit is fastened to the frontplate with two screws. This de-sign permits easy replacementof individual parts or a com-plete two button assembly.

Options available with PBCPendants include: A pilot lightto signal when power is on, acircuit-disconnect toggle switch,reset button and maintainedcontacts. Other options areavailable, on request, to meetyour special needs.

essary flame path. The plungerguards are also an integral partof the front casting. The topcasting is tapped to accommo-date an approved sealingchamber unit.

Removal of the rear case ex-poses the pushbutton inserts foreasy inspection and mainte-nance without disturbing wiring.

DescriptionEuclid PBP Pushbutton Stationsare comprised of modular com-ponents (see illustration): A spe-cially compounded, durable, ni-trile-vinyl, all rubber enclosurewith removable back and frontguards; high dielectric strengthmolded terminal base; optionalpilot light; plug-in type pushbut-ton inserts with bayonet-type vi-bration resistant, silver-platedterminals; neoprene button cov-ers (boots) to insure weather-proofing; nitrile vinyl rubberguards to protect buttons fromphysical damage and acciden-tal operation.

The plug-in inserts permit anyunit to be inspected or replacedwithout disturbing the originallyinstalled wiring, hence, mini-mal down time. The modularunits can be easily arranged inany order in the pendant station.

The reversing inserts consistsof two buttons mechanicallyinterlocked to prevent simulta-neous operation.

All modular inserts are keyed toprevent improper installation.

A variety of optional featuresare available:

SpecificationsThe nitrile-vinyl rubber push-button enclosure with neoprenepushbutton covers (boots) is suit-able for exposure to:

The Pushbutton inserts are highimpact and shock resistant andhigh dielectric strength moldedphenolic with oversize silvercontacts that operate with apositive wiping action offeringexcellent contact reliability. Themulti-speed inserts have a onepiece self-lubricating ‘’Nylatron”plunger-cam for easier opera-tion and greater durability.

Kellems grips are available andprovide positive strain relief forthe multi-conductor cable, in-creasing its service life manytimes, thus avoiding unneces-sary downtime and mainte-nance costs. Refer to pricesheet for part numbers andcord diameters.

ApplicationIndustrial plants have

expanded the use ofelectric motor driven

hoists (over the chainfalltypes) as the need for

greater hoist capacity hasincreased. These electricmotor hoists are an excel-lent application for theHubbell Compact Pen-dant. Especially in areas

where the stations are sub-ject to operational abuse.

Locations include jib craneson building columns, small

overhead hoists on gantrycranes, and even the operationof hoists applied to singlegirder cranes.

These pendant stations aredesigned for the comfort of theoperator in controlling the hoistsand built to withstand hostileenvironments in the industrialarena.

Most of the electric hoists havereversing electrical relays orcontactors which can be con-trolled from a single control con-tact and these pendant stationsare designed for those hoist ap-plications, not for the directpower handling of the motorcurrent in the pendant station.

Jogging operation of floor-mounted machines away fromthe main operator’s station isgenerally associated with onlyone motion, easily handled bythe pendant station applied toan umbilical cord.

These stations have also beenused very successfully for winchcontrol on recreational vehiclesand tow trucks and for dockcontrol with carriers in thefood industries.

The Multi-Purpose PBM Pen-dant Pushbutton Stations havebeen designed to use 22mmNEMA 4X pushbutton ele-ments to provide full flexibility.Spacing of the mounting holeswill permit enlarging the holeto install the larger 30mmpushbutton elements if de-sired. DescriptionThe operating head is moldedof tough fiberglass reinforcedpolyester resin. The housing isengineered for extra strengthand impact resistance. Thestainless steel operating rod hasa 11⁄8" diameter tough plasticknob. The lever is supported

within the operating head byoil-impregnated bushings. Theoperating mechanism within thehead is comprised of precisionmachined components carefullyassembled and tested to assurea long, trouble-free service life.

The enclosure to which thehead is fastened is a die-formed metal stamping. OnNEMA 1 housings, two 3⁄4"knockouts are supplied. The op-erating head is gasketed forsealing to the enclosure or cus-tomers panel on flush mountingswitches.

The cam-operated inserts aresimilar to those used with typePBC & WPBC pushbutton sta-tions, with the following modifi-cations: The operating plungersare glass-fibre reinforced plasticwith a special lip overhang tointerlock with the operating le-ver. Plungers are also equippedwith location detents, corre-sponding to the cam develop-ment and speed points. Thisfeature provides the operatorwith a “positive position feel.”
