Huawei P40 – Everything you need to know
Huawei's P40 is the company's latest high-end smartphone. The P40 is a great affordable flagship
phone in most respects. It has the best camera available at its price, outperforming the pricier
iPhone 11 when it comes to versatility in particular, and its hardware and software come
together better than users expected them to.
INTRODUCTION :
Huawei P40 smartphone runs on Android v10 operating system. The phone is powered by Octa core
(2.86 GHz, Dual core, Cortex A76 + 2.36 GHz, Dual core, Cortex A76 + 1.95 GHz, Quad core, Cortex
A55) processor. It runs on the HiSilicon Kirin 990 5G Chipset. It has 8 GB RAM and 128 GB internal
storage.
Huawei P40 smartphone has a OLED display. It measures 148.9 mm x 71 mm x 8.5 mm and weighs 175
grams. The screen has a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels and 422 ppi pixel density. It has an aspect
ratio of 19.5:9 and screen-to-body ratio of 86.21 %. On camera front, the buyers get a 32 MP f/2.0
Primary Camera and on the rear, there's an 50MP + 16MP + 8MP camera with features like 30 x Digital
Zoom, Auto Flash, Face detection, Touch to focus. It is backed by a 3800 mAh battery. Connectivity
features in the smartphone include WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, Volte, NFC and more.
FEATURES :
DISPLAY :The P40 comes with all new Quad-Curve overflow display. It doesn’t feature a high refresh rate
display, instead, capping out at 60Hz. There’s no official HDR badge here, though you do get a
perfectly respectable OLED panel with FHD+ 2340 x 1080 resolution.
Viewing angles are excellent, brightness is good indoors and out. So out of that can be said the P40’s
screen does a decent job day to day. But a 90Hz or 120Hz refresh rate display could have been
better.
The Huawei P40’s primary camera features the 50MP Ultra Vision camera with an f/1.9 aperture and
a 23mm focal length, but the image stabilization is electronic, Huawei terms it AIS.
OIS is, however, found on the P40’s telephoto camera which delivers a 3x optical zoom, equating to
an 80mm focal length, and there’s also a 16MP ultra-wide camera with an f/2.2 aperture and a 17mm
angle of view.
All three cameras deliver more detail and arguably better results when shooting stills than the
competitors cameras. That’s a pretty huge deal considering the P40’s price range.
CAMERA :
DESIGN : The innovative design upgrades your visual entertainment and ergonomic comfort. At 6.1-inches, it’s
easy enough to manage one-handed, and the lack of curves means accidental presses aren’t an issue.
That said, the phone is a well built one.
The curved glass back and buffed metal frame feel great, while the flat screen is low on bezels, but
big on punch hole cameras, with a pill-shaped dual selfie camera in the top left.
The P40’s buttons are on the right, while all the other points of interest are at the base – a
mono-speaker, SIM card tray, and a USB-C port. You can pick it up in three colours – Deep Sea Blue,
Ice White and Black – with all packing a fingerprint-loving gloss finish.
The Huawei P40 packs a 3,800 mAh Li-Po battery. It supports Huawei's first-generation Super Charge
rated at 22.5W. Naturally, the P40 is bundled with the said charger. While the 22.5W charging may
not be the fastest around, it can replenish the P40's battery from 0% to 60% in just 30 minutes, while
an hour of charging gets you to 90%. So, it's still competitively fast, just not the fastest around.
BATTERY :
The Huawei P40 runs on the Kirin 990 5G chipset - which has a bit faster processor than the regular
non-5G Kirin 990 chip we worked with on the Mate 30 Pro. Whether gaming, UI swiping or photo
editing, you just don't need to wait for anything. The phone’s internal storage is either 128GB or
256GB, and it supports Huawei’s Nano Memory cards too.
With 5G data speeds, fast WiFi and NFC, a responsive under-display fingerprint scanner and fast face
unlock, nothing major is missing here when compared to pricier flagships.
PERFORMANCE :
CONCLUSION :The P40 is a great affordable flagship phone in most respects. It has the best camera available
at its price and its hardware and software come together better than any user expected it to be.
With Huawei still ironing out its Google-free offering, but its still the best in offering and there’s
every chance that it could be the best smartphone with an amazing camera at its price.
