1 Executive summary

New technologies are emerging one after the other in the telecommunications & IT industry leading to a

convergence of ICT (Information & Communication Technology) making IT & CT indistinguishable any

more. Meanwhile, new businesses are springing-up amid an intensely competitive landscape. The

growth of the ICT industry cannot be separated from the growth of talent. Meanwhile, the revolution in the

industry sets higher requirements for the knowledge and skills to be mastered by talents. A person will

qualified ICT talent.

To meet the new challenges in competence shifts & blend of multi skill requirement, Industry &

Universities are exploring opportunities to provide hands-on training & certification to students from

Industry experts in university premises to enhance the knowledge level & employability of students.

Huawei, a global leader in Information & Communication Technology as a part of their contribution to

aspiring young engineers has launched ―Huawei Education‖ division leading to Training & Certification to

students in university under the vocational education program in various ICT streams at multiple levels.

colleges, Huawei’s initiative is Centre of Excellence

3 What is Huawei Centre of Excellence?

Huawei shall authorize a university / college as Huawei Centre of Excellence through a mutual tie-up

between both parties thereby the following can be achieved

For Universities & Colleges

o Huawei shall authorize to set up Huawei Centre of Excellence within college campus

o Industry partnership with Huawei & Associate companies

o Guest lecturers & Corporate seminars

o Huawei Maitree Sponsorship for students willing to pursue higher education in china

o College name will be included in Huawei HR list among list of colleges where Huawei

conducts on-campus & off-campus recruitments

o COE – package at a much subsidized rate compared to other colleges/universities

o Access to Huawei LAB on IP, Telecom, Transmission, Cloud computing

o TTT – Train the Trainer program & certification for colleges professors & lecturers

o Industry curriculum from Huawei which can be either made part of the curriculum or as

This is a customized proposal drafted based on the initial discussion & meeting that Huawei had with

PPU, Hisar (Haryana). In this proposal, Huawei has proposed the list of Vocational training programs,

duration, contents, pre-requisites for students along with facilities including class room, lab with Huawei

equipments, qualified lecturers / TTT (Train the Trainer) program & benefits to students.

Huawei shall be responsible to provide

1. The course contents & curriculum which is latest & updated as per Industry standards

2. Equipments for LAB & practical hands-on training

3. Train The Trainer program (TTT) to nominated lecturers of the University on the list of courses

selected by UNIVERSITY to offer as Vocational training & Certification to students

4. Examination Platform & Process

5. Certification process for students

UNIVERSITY shall be responsible to

1. Review the curriculums submitted by Huawei & mutually agree the content to be finalized for

Vocational training.

2. Promote this program as a part of Vocational training

3. Deliver this vocational training to students.

4. Co-operate with Huawei for conducting examination.

5. Deliver certification to students passing the exam.

This vocational training & certification program shall be offered by UNIVERSITY & Huawei mutually in all

aspects of designing, marketing, delivery, evaluation & certification. Students enrolling to this program

shall fund themselves to undergo the training & certification as per the fee mutually decided by

UNIVERSITY & Huawei.

datacom network knowledge and skills by providing practical, professional network technology

certification. There are two target sectors; Carrier IP Network and Enterprise IP Network.

HCDA (Huawei Certified Datacom Associate)

HCDA Certification validates the knowledge and skills required for basic configuration and maintenance

of small- and medium-sized networks.

The HCNA (HCDA) curriculum includes but is not limited to the following:

HCNA-Transmission Certification validates the basic knowledge of transport networks and the basic

operation and maintenance of Huawei transport devices and network management software.

Huawei Centre of Excellence is a most privileged partnership directly with Huawei & therefore it call

Excellence, A university / college need to fulfill any one of the following criteria

1. Invest on Huawei IP LAB

2. Make HCIG part of university curriculum

3. Commit a min of 200 students for HCIG program per year

16 Implementation Processes

Once agreed, Huawei shall establish COE in UNIVERSITY campus containing LAB, TTT (Train the Trainer)

program & UNIVERSITY shall be Huawei Centre of Excellence to provide Training & Certification on

Information & Communication Technologies with Huawei LAB in UNIVERSITY campus & extend the value to

students of all affiliated Engineering colleges.

17 Terms & Conditions

Once the course content is approved it shall not be changed during training.

Travel, boarding & lodging and any other incidental expenses of trainees shall be borne by

trainee.

Training Material shall be provided in hard copies only.

Attendance will be considered and if the trainee has not cleared the exam then only attendance

certificate will be given to the trainee.
