Europe 2020 strategy

- 10 year strategy aimed at making the EU more dynamic and competitive

- Three key drivers: Smart, sustainable and inclusive growth

Headline targets• 75% of the population aged 20-64 should be employed; • 3% of the EU's GDP should be invested in R&D;• The "20/20/20" climate/energy targets should be met

(including an increase to 30% of emissions reduction if the conditions are right);

• The share of early school leavers should be under 10% and at least 40% of younger generation should have a tertiary degree; and

• 20 million fewer people should be at risk of poverty

• Number of high-skilled jobs is growing while number of low-skilled jobs is decreasing

• By 2020 nearly 35% of jobs will require high skills, innovation capacity and the ability to adapt

• One of headline Europe 2020 targets = to reduce early school leavers from 14% to less than 10%

• To contribute to this goal, Erasmus for All will “support modernisation at all levels of education and training, including school education, from early childhood to secondary level and initial vocational training.”
